CHAPTER I.

AN ACT to amend and re-enact section twenty-five of chapter thirty of the Code of West Virginia.

Approved, January 21, 1875.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia :

1. That section twenty-five of chapter thirty of the code amended. Code of West Virginia, be amended and re-enacted so

as to read as follows:

"25. The taxes assessed under the twenty-ninth chap- pay taxes into ter, and collected under this chapter, shall be paid into the treasury. the treasury as follows, three-fourths of such taxes shall be paid on or before the twentieth day of January in the year next after the said taxes shall have been assessed, and the remaining fourth on or before the first day of May in such year; save only as follows: A sheriff or collector who may not have qualified, or who may not have received the books of the assessor before the first day of October, or who shall be prevented by legal process, from collecting said taxes, shall be allowed ditional time. five months from his qualification, or the delivery of said books to such sheriff or collector, or from the removal of such legal restraint, to pay into the treasury the whole amount with which he is chargeable."

2. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
