The purchases of cotton in inquiry for cotton on the forenoon of Tues- London for the week, consist of-1,200 day last; it bas led to very extensive pur- Pernambuco, 2s. Ofd. to 2s. 148.; 250 Bachases; the sales since our last exceed 3.000 hia, 234d. to 2s.; 130 Mina, 22d, to 224d.;. packages: there has been much speculation, 95 Demerara and Berbice, 214d, to 23 d. 1 both in this market and in Liverpool, in 51 Surinam, 22ęd. to 2s. Ožd. ; and exclu Pernambuco cotton, in anticipation that the sive of duty, 600 Bengals were sold, 10d. supplies of Sea Island will this season be to 124d.; the greater proportion of the laivery deficient, and that they will be substiter for exportation: and 750 Surats realized tuted in the manufactures for the American Sea Islands; no good Pernams now offer under 28. 28. The East India cotton sale on the 20th, will consist of 13,000 Bengals, and an advance of ad. to d. per lb. on the East India sale prices, selling from 144d. to 153d, There is again a great renewal in the de mand for cotton this forenoon; several cone siderable parcels of Surats have been sold si sa advance of d. and d. on the last East India ale prices. SUGAR.-There has been a very steady demand for sugars all the week, particularly for parcels in bond for exportation; the latter may be stated Is, higher than sugars imported previous to the 5th of January: no other alteration in Muscovades can be noticed since our last. On Tuesday a public sale of Barbadoes sugar was brought forward, it consisted of 180 casks; the whole West off firely 81s. a 94s. fully supporting the highest prices previously paid in the market by private contract; fine sugars rate bigh is proportion to the inferiordescriptions. The business done in refined sugars since er last, has not been extensive, yet the holders will not submit to any depression to facilitate sales; the stock in the market is very limited: there is no variation in the prices. — diolasses are steady. la Foreign sugars there is no variation. This forenoon a public sale of East India descriptions was brought forward, it consisted of 1576 bags Bengal; the greater proportion was, we believe, taken in at very high prices; some yellow sugars sold 45. a 48s. 6d. COFFEE. The sales of coffee early in the week by private contract and public sale, went off at a further improvement of 3. per cwt.; since which the advance has been confirmed by very considerable sales; the extensive quantity brought forward yesterday, weat of without the briskness obervable early in the week, yet the prices were fully supported. Having stated the particulars of the coffre market up to the evening of Saturday, we proceed now to give the great fluctua Leas since. On the arrival of the foreign tols yesterday, there was an immediate and extensive demand for coffee, particularly for the foreign descriptions; St. Dorego, which had a day or two previously been sold at 103s. realized 107s.; and for fe ordinary above 108s, was asked; there were extensive purchases from 106s, to 108s. and no parcels were offering under the former rate; Havannah, with colour, was reported at 110s.; good ordinary Jamaica sold at 105s. This forenoon a public sale was brought forward, which fully confirms an advance of Ss. to 4s. per cwt, on the pubhe sales of last week-it consisted of 74 casks 50 bags British Plantation coffee, chiedy Demerara; middling, which last week sold extensively at 110s. and 111s. realized 114s, to 115s. 6d. in very.consideraparcels; fine ordinary, or ordinary midding, sold at 110s. 6d.; 300 bags Brazil, of fair quality, 107s; ordinary Jamaica in today sale realized 105s, 6d. RICE.-There is more request for Carolina nice. This forenoon a public sale of East India descriptions was brought forward, it consisted of 1296 bags Bengals, the whole went off freely 23s. 6d. to 248. 6d. for good quality, inferior 21s. to 225, OILS.-The prices of oil are little varied; the demand continues languid.-Gallipot is again quoted lower, but the prices are nearly nominal; it would be difficult in the present state of the market to effect sales at the reduced currency. SPICES.-There is more inquiry for spices, and generally the parcels purchased at the late India sales bear a premium. FRUIT.-There are extensive purchases made of Denia and Valencia raisins, Ourrants maintain the late prices. TOBACCO.-The demand for tobacco continues steady. RUN, BRANDY, and HOLLANDS.There is little business doing in Leeward rum; the prices are little varied: the request for strong Jamaicas appears increasing; the prices are also improving.-Brandies have again given way, and the reduced quotations are still nearly nominal.-Very few transactions have lately taken place in Geneva, TALLOW.-The prices of foreign tallow are Is. lower, and the market heavy at the decline; yellow candle tallow, for early arrival, sold at 71s.; for parcels to arrive during the season, 69s. and 70%.-Town tallow is to-day quoted 80s, 6d, which is Is. 6d. lower than last week. IRISH PROVISIONS, &c.-There is no material alteration in the price of beef and pork since our last.-The demand for bacon has not been so extensive.-Butter maintains very high prices; the holders an ticipate a farther advance: it is however probable that the consumption will be a litile affected by the high prices. CORN.-There was a good supply of English wheat in yesterday's market, which, with the probability of the Ports opening next week for the foreign, occasioned a very heavy market, at a small decline on the best samples; every other description was nearly unsaleable. Fine malting barley obtained au advance of 1s.: the other descriptions were heavy at the late prices: prime samples of malt supported the currency of last week, being scarce; the other descriptions were heavy and lower.-The supply of English oats were very deficient, but the probability of the immediate use of the foreign, caused a very heavy sale, at prices Is. lower. --New beans were in large supply, they declined Is. ; there was little demand for the old. In peas there was no variation; a great proportion of the supply at market remains unsold. HOPS. By public sale, 51 bales foreign hops; American 121. 5s. to 13. 10s, in bond, 19 bags, Brunswick 51. 19s. growth of 1817. NAVAL STORES.-There are no par cels of rough turpentine in first hand on sale. An arrival was yesterday reported, but no price, we believe, has yet been fixed upon.
