AN ACT

For the relief of Tax-Payers and Collectors.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- Extension of sentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly time for making convened, That an act entitled "An Act to extend the collections. time for the payment of taxes into the State Treasury, and for other purposes," approved February 8th, 1861, be so amended as to give until May 1st, 1862, for collecting and paying over the taxes for the year 1861.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the tax collectors Kind of funds of this State may take in payment of taxes treasury receivable for notes of this State or of the Confederate States, and any current bank notes of the State of Alabama. Provided, If in the opinion of the Governor, any of the banks of this State shall become unsafe, he may by proclamation and by notice to the tax collectors, prohibit the reception of the bills of any such bank. Provided further, That the written assent of the securities of the several tax collectors to the extension provided for by this act shall be obtained by the several tax collectors and filed with the comptroller of public accounts. and approved by the comptroller, before the said extension shall take effect.
