b Mat.3.1. Mar. 1.4.

3 And b he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the c ch.1.77. baptism of repentance c for the re-i mission of sins;

4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, d saying. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

6 And e all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, Of generation of vipers! who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth, therefore, fruits 1 worthy of repentance; and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He f shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee;

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou ( dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus, answering, said unto him, It is said, Thou g shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the h temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 And Jesus i returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth, k where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbathday, and stood up for to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written.

18 The m Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor: he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, n to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering o of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, p

19 To preach the acceptable year q of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And ali bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious r words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is s not this Joseph's son?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum,t do also here in thy country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you. No u prophet is accepted in his own country.

1 Christ teacheth out of Peter's ship. 4 A miraculous draught of fishes. 12 The leper cleansed, 18 The palsy healed. 27 Christ calleth Levi.

NDa it came to pass. that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch b out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon, answering, said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: c nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And d when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 And they beckoned unto their

partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help e them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down fat Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes g which they had taken:

10 And so was also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
