Brewster Randall having received a majority of all the votes given, was declared duly elected Speaker of the Senate, and thereupon proceeded to the discharge of his duties.

Mr. Whitman offered for adoption the following resolution, which was agreed to:

Resolved, That the Senate do now proceed to the election of a Clerk to serve during the present session of the Legislature.

The Senate accordingly proceeded to ballot for a Clerk. The following was the result:
