AN ACT

To authorize David Boyd to sell certain real estate, late of Mary M'Adams, deceased.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That David Boyd, of the district of Spring Garden, in the county of Phila- Power to sell. delphia, is hereby authorized and empowered to sell, convey in fee simple, at public or private sale, all the right, title and interest in the one moiety, or half part of a frame house and lot of ground, situate on the south side of Pine street, between Sixth and Seventh streets, in the city of Philadelphia, which was devised by Mary W. M'Adams, of the city of Philadelphia, unto Howell Hopkins, of the city of Philadelphia, in trust, for the use of certain of the children of her brother William M'Adams, except the interest in the said property now belonging to William Taylor and Mary his wife, late Mary M'Adams; and the said David Boyd, after receiving the purchase money of the said interests in the property authorized to be sold, as aforesaid, shall settle an account of the same in the orphans' court of the city and Settle account. county of Philadelphia, which court, after making an allowance to the said David Boyd, for costs, and for other expenses attending the said sale, shall make distribution of the residue of the said purchase money, o or amongst the person or persons by law entitled to the same; which listribution and decree shall be conclusive upon all persons interested, anless the same be appealed from to the supreme court of this state, within one year from the date of the said decree: Provided, That the Proviso. said David Boyd shall give bond, with security, to be approved by the Security. orphans' court of said county, for the faithful application of the proeeds of said sale; and said sale shall be approved by the said court.

AN ACT

To authorize the administrator of John Good, late of Somerset county, deceased, to convey a certain lot of ground.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same. That Jacob Blough, administrator of John Good, late of the county of Somerset, deceased. be and is hereby authorized and empowered to sell and convey, by sufficient deed or deeds, to Samuel Meyer and Tobias Musser and their successors, in trust, for the German Baptist congregation, of Brother's Valley township, in said county of Somerset, a certain lot of ground, containing one acre, on which the said congregation have erected a house of worship, (the said lot of ground being a part of a larger tract of which the said decedent died seized.)

To confer on Mary Magdalena Witmer, Henry Meese and Elizabeth Moyer, the rights and privileges of children born in lawful wedlock."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa tives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Mary Magdalena the said Mary Magdalena Witmer, daughter of Jacob Witmer, and his Witmer, legiti- present wife Lehna, of Manor township, Lancaster county, shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of a child born in lawful wedlock; and shall be able and capable in law to inherit and transmit any estate whatsoever, as fully and completely, to all intents and purposes, as if she had been born in lawful wedlock.

Authorizing Sarah H. Armstrong to sell certain real estate, or to make partition thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Sarah H. Armstrong, guardian of the minor children of Edward Arm- Power to sell or strong, deceased, be and she is hereby authorized to sell, at public or partition real esprivate sale, as she may deem most advantageous, and make conveyance therefor, any real estate or interest therein, of which the said Edward Armstrong died seized, situate in the counties of Luzerne and Monroe; or to make partition with, or grant releases to such person or persons with whom the said Edward Armstrong may have been tenant in common in such real estate, or to join with such person or persons in the sale and conveyance of said real estate, as may be deemed most advantageous to the interest of the parties: Provided, That before any such sale, partition or realease shall take place, the said Sarah H. Armstrong shall in person, or by attorney, enter into bonds, with sufficient sureties, to be approved by the orphans' courts of Luzerne and Monroe, respectively, conditioned for the faithful appropriation of the proceeds of the sales, partition, or release of said real estate, according to law. A SUPPLEMENT

To the act to charter the Harrisburg bridge company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa tives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, The Authorized to bor- Harrisburg bridge company' are hereby authorized to borrow any sum of money, not exceeding fifty thousand dollars, for the purpose of rebuilding their bridge over the Susquehanna river, at Harrisburg; and if deemed expedient for the same purpose, the said company shall and Increase capital. may sell or receive subscriptions for any number of shares of the capital

SECTION 2. The sum of money to be borrowed, and the number of number to be de- additional shares of stock to be sold or subscribed for, and the price thereof per share to be paid by the purchasers or subscribers, shall be determined and prescribed at a meeting or meetings of the stockholders of the said company, to be convened and held as hereinafter directed; Provided. That no share of said stock shall be sold for less than the one-half of the par value of the stock of said company.

Meeting of stockholders.

SECTION 3. The board of managers of the said Harrisburg bridge company, before making or entering into any contract for the re-building of their bridge, or the loan of money, or sale or subscription of stock, authorized by this act, shall call a meeting of the stockholders of the said company, of which at least three weeks' notice shall be given by advertisement, in at least two newspapers published in the borough of Harrisburg, at which meeting of stockholders, the said board shall submit the plan of the bridge proposed, and the terms of May contract for the contract for building thereof; and if the said plan and contract shall building bridge. be approved by a majority of the votes given at the said meeting, or any future meeting of stockholders, of which like notice shall have been given, then the said board of managers shall be authorized to enter into and complete the said contract, and proceed to cause the said bridge to be erected.

SECTION 4. At all meetings of the stockholders, and at all future elections of the said bridge company, voting by proxy shall not be allowed; and it shall not be lawful for any stockholder to vote at such meetings or elections, except in his own proper person; and each stockholder so attending, shall be entitled to one vote for each and every share of the stock of the said bridge company, held by him or her, at all meetings of the stockholders held for any purpose whatsoever, and at all elections for officers of the said company: Provided, That this provision shall not prevent any guardian of minor children, or any bona fide trustee, holding stock in a fiduciary capacity, from voting upon such stock, at any such meetings or elections: Provided, That no stockholder shall be entitled to more than one-eighth of the whole number of votes.
