"Let us lift up our heart with our hands, unto God in the heavens."

Lam. iii. 41.

WOULD'ST thou be happy? Serve and love

thy God;

The soul is ever vacant till He comes

And makes therein His dwelling; then it stands
On the world's brink, enrapt in contemplation,
Still pondering on futurity and heaven,
Until at length, expanding in its size,
It comprehends infinity, and swells
Into immortal and immense desires,
Gigantic as eternity, then flies,

Its sunshine Godhead, and its home the skies.

"Let us search and try our ways, and turn again

to the Lord."

Lam. iii. 40.

T is by grace, and grace alone,

IT

That sin can ever be forgiven;
Good works for us could not atone,
Nor ever bring our souls to heaven;
We must have mercy at Thy hand,
Before in judgment we can stand.
Therefore in God secure I rest,

On Him alone my trust I place;
On Him I lean my drooping breast,
And trust Him for His boundless grace.
His word is true which speaks to me;
On it my hope shall ever be.

"Let us walk in the light of the Lord."

Isa. ii. 51.

LORD, I come to Thee for rest;
Take possession of my breast;

There Thy blood-bought right maintain,
And without a rival reign.

While I am a pilgrim here,
Let Thy love my spirit cheer;
As my Guide, my Guard, my Friend,
Lead me to my journey's end.

Show me what I have to do;
Every hour my strength renew;
Let me live a life of faith;

Let me die Thy people's death.

'Lift up your eyes unto the heavens, and look

upon the earth beneath.'

Isa. li. 6.

shall He slumber, shall He sleep, Who gave the eye its power to see? Shall He not hear His children weep, Who made the ear so wondrously? What though thou tread with bleeding feet A thorny path of grief and gloom, Thy God will choose the way most meet

To lead thee heavenwards, lead thee home.
