25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and 'devout, "waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.10

such as open every womb; even instead of the first-born of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me. For all the first-born of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast on the day that I smote every first-born in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them to myself. do. xviii. 15, 17: Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts shall be thine: Nevertheless the first-born of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem. The firstling of a cow or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem.

34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for thefall and rising again of many in Israel;

Hos. xiv. 9: The ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. ZECH. xii. 3: In that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. LUKE, XX. 17, 18: And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall it shall grind him to powder. JOHN, iii. 19: This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ACTS, iv. 11: This is the stone which was set at nought by you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
