Health in Rural and Remote Australia: The First Report of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare on Rural Health

This report is the first produced by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare to focus on the health of Australians living in rural and remote areas. It compares the health of people living in rural and remote areas with that of those living in metropolitan areas across Australia. Health in Rural and Remote Australia shows that people living in rural and remote areas have many health disadvantages their urban counterparts do not experience, including shortages of health care providers and services in some areas, difficulties in accessing health care and greater exposure to injury.
