Among other facts disclosed is the apparent increase in cancer of the lungs. As a general rule, cancer and tuberculosis rarely coinside in the same person.

Dr. Hoffman's Canadian investigations show that French Canadians have a much lower cancer death rate than English Canadians. As yet, no satisfactory explanation for this difference has been forthcoming. Cancer of the lip and mouth is apparently more common among French Canadians in Montreal than among the remainder of the population, but cancer of the esophagus and gall bladder is less common. Cancer of female organs is also decidedly more infrequent among French Canadians than among other Canadians in Montreal. The investigation is being extended to other sections of Canada as far as the Pacific Coast.

But unfortunately the new building was not yet finished, and could not be occupied, and the Third Annual Meeting was deferred until the Executive Council could arrange for it. "After reading this book, one can merely express surprise that so much time, money, and personal endeavor are being spent in the search for a cure of cancer along surgical lines, when we have a non-surgical method capable of such results as Dr. Bulkley has attained. It were well for every surgeon dealing with cancer to read and ponder over this book, and apply its teaching to his daily practice."-New York Medical Journal.

"The most interesting and suggestive portion of the book is the one on treatment. It should be read without prejudice, and if so read it cannot but give food for thought."-Medical Record.
