46 (And Jofeph was thirty years old when he food before Pharaoh king of Egypt.) And Jofeph went out from the prefence of Pharach, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

47 And in the feven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.

48 And he gathered up all the food of the feven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the faine.

49 And Jofeph gathered corn as the fand of the fea, very much, until he left numbering: for it was without number.

50 And unto Jofeph were born two fons before the years of famine came, which Afenath, the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On, bare

unto him.

1 And Jofeph called the name of the firftborn Manalich: for God, faid be, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's

houfe.

52 And the name of the fecond called he Ephraim: for God hath caufed me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."

53 And the feven years of plenteoufnels that was in the land of Egypt were

ended.

34 And the feven years of dearth began to come, according as jofeph had faid: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

55 And, when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh faid unto all the Egyptians,Go unto Jofeph; what he faith to you, do. 5 And the famine was over all the face of the earth. And Jofeph opened all the ftorehoules, and fold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed fore in the land of Egypt. 37.And all countries came into Egypt to Jofeph for to buy corn; becaufe that the mine was fo fore in all lands.

16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye thall be kept in prifon, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you:orelfe,by the life of Pharaoh, forely ye are fpies.

17 And he put them all togetherinto ward three days.

18 And Jofeph faid unto them the third day, This do, and live: for I fear God,

19 If ye be true men, let one of your bre thren be bound in the houfe of your prifon : go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houles:

20 But bring your youngest brother unte me; fo thall your words be verified, and ye fhall not die. And they did fo.

21 And they faid one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we faw the anguish of his foul, when he be. fought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this diftrefs come upon us.

22 And Reuben anfwered them, faying, Spake I not unto you, faying, Do not fin fagainst the child and ye would not hear; therefore, behold, alfo his blood is required.

CHAP. XLII.
Jacob Jendeth his ten fons to buy corn in
Egypt 17 they are imprisoned by Jofeph

TOW when Jacob faw that there was corn

do ye look one upon another?

And he faid, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live,

and not die.

3And Jofeph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

4 But Benjamin, Jofeph's brother, Jacob fent not with his brethren: for he faid, Left peradventure niifchief befal him.

5 And the fons of Ifrael came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

6 And Jofeph was the governor over the land, and he it was that fold to all the people of the land: and Jofeph's brethren came, and Lowed down themfelves before him with their faces to the earth.

7 And Jofeph faw his brethren, and he

27 And as one of them opened his fack, to give his afs provender in the inn, he efped his money: for, behold, it was in his fack's mouth.

28 And he faid unto his brethren, My mo. ney is restored; and lo, it is even in my fack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, faying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

29 And they came unto Jacob their fa ther, unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that betel unto them, fayingy

GENES I 9.

30 The man, who is the lord of the land," fpake roughly to us, and took us for fpies of the country.

31 And we faid unto him, We are true men; we are no fpies.

32 We be twelve brethren, fens of our father: one is not, and the youngest is this day with our tather in the land ct Canaan.

33 And the man, the lord of the country, faid unto us, Hereby thall I know that yeare true men: leave one of your brethren bere with me, and take fond for the tamine of your houtholds, and be gone;

34 And bring your youngest br er en me; then thall) know that ye are no fpies, but that ye are true wen: In will I deliver you your brother, and ye thall traffick in the land.

35 And it came to pafs, as they emptied their facks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his fack: and when both they and their father faw the bundles of money, they were airaid.

36 And Jacob their father faid unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joteph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away. All these things are againit

me.

37 And Reuben fpake unto his father, faying, Slay my two fons it I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

38 And he faid, My fon thall not go down, with you; for his brother is dead, and he is leit alone: it mifchiet betal him by the way in the which ye go, then all ye bring down my gray hairs with forrow to the grave. CHAP. XLIII.

Jacob is hardly pesjuaded to fend Benjamin. 15 Joje h entertaineth his brethren.

AND the famine was fore in the land.

2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father faid unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.

3 And Judah pake unto him, faying, The man did folemnly protent unto us, faying, Ye fhall not fee my face, except your brother be with you.

4 If thou wilt fend our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food;

5 But if thou wilt not- fend him, we will not go down: for the man faid unto us, Ye shall not fee my face, except your brother be with you.

6 And Ifrael faid, Wherefore dealt ye f ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?

7 And they faid, The man asked us ftraitly of our state, and of our kindred, faying, is your rather yet alive? have ye another brother? And we told him according to the tenor of these words. Could we certainly know what he would fa), Bring your brother down?

8 And Judah faid unto Ifrael his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arife and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and all our little ones.

9 I will be furety or him; of my hand fhalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and fet him before thee, then let: me bear the blanie or ever.

10 For except we had lingered, furely now we had returned this fecond time,

to fend Benjamin into Egypt.

11 And their father Ifrael faid unto them If it must be fo now, do this; Take of the best fruits in the land in your veffels, and carry down the man a prefent, a little balm, and a little honey, fpices and myrrh, nuts and al, monds.

12 And take double money in your hand: and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your facks carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an overfight.

13 Take alfo your brother, and arife, go again unto the man:

14 And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may tend away your other brother, and Benjamin. It I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

15 And the men took that prefent, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and ftood before Jofeph.

16 And when Jofeph faw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring thefe men home, and flay, and make ready: for thefe men thall dine with me at noon.

17 And the man did as Jofeph bade: and the man brought the men into jofeph's houfe. 18 And the men were atraid, because they were b ight into Jofeph's houfe; and they faid, 1fe of the money that was returned in our facks at the first time are we brought in, that he may feek occafion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our affes.

19 And they came near to the fteward of Jofeph's houfe, and they communed with him at the door of the houfe,

20 And faid, O fir! we came indeed down. at the first time to buy food:

21 And it came to pafs, when we came to the inn, that we opened our facks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his fack, our money in full weight; and we have brought it again in our hand.

22 And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our facks.

23 And he faid, Peace be to you, fear not; your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your facks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto

them.

24 And the man brought the men into Jofeph's houfe, and gave them water, and they washed their teet; and he gave their affes provender.

25 And they made ready the prefent againft Jofeph came at noon; for they heard that they thould eat bread there.

26 And when Jofeph came home, they brought him the prefent which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themfelves to him to the earth.

27 And he asked them of their welfare, and faid, is your tather well? the old man of whom ye fpake, is he yet alive?

28 And they anfwered, Thy fervant our father is in good health, he is yet alive: and they bowed down their heads, and made obci,ance.

29 And he lifted up his eyes, and faw his brother Benjamin, his mother's fon, and (aid, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye fpake unto me? And he faid, God be gracious unto thee, my fon.

30 And Jofeph made hafte; for his bowels

Fofeph's policy did yearn upon his brother: and he fought 17 And he faid, God forbid that I should where to weep; and he entered into his do fo: but the man in whofe hand the cup is chamber, and wept there. found, he thall be my fervant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your tather.

3 And he wathed his face, and went out, and retrained himnielf, and faid, Set on bread. And they fet on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptius which did eat with him by themfelves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

33 And they fat before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.

34 And he took and fent meffes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mefs was five times fo much as any of their's. And they drank, and were merry with him.. CHAP. XLIV. Jofeph policy to ftay bis brethren. ND becommanded the fteward of his houfe, faying, Fill the men's facks quith food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his fack's mouth.

And put my cup, the silver cup, in the fack's mouth of the youngeft, and his cornmoney. And he did according to the word that jo ad spoken.

3. As too as the morning was light, the men were feat away, they and their ailes.

4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Jofeph faid unto his fteward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou, dot overtake them, fay unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good!

5 Is not this if in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? Ye have done evil in fo doing.

6And he overtook them, and he fpake

unto them thefe fame words.

7 And they faid unto him, Wherefore faith my lord these words God forbid that thy fervants should do according to this thing.

8 Behold, the money which we tound in our facks' mouths we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house filver or gold? 9 With whomfoever of thy fervants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen..

to And he faid, Now alfo let it be accordlag unto your words: he with whom it is found fhall be my fervant; and ye ball be Clameless.

11 Then they fpeedily took down every man hisfack to the ground, and opened every

man his fack.

12 And he fearched, and hegan at the eldeft, and left at the youngeft: and the cup was found in Benjamin's fack.

18 Then Judah came near unto him, and faid, Oh, my Lord, let thy fervant, I pray thee, fpeak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn againt thy fervant : for thou art even as Pharaoh.

19 My lord asked his fervants, faying, Have ye a father, or a brother?

20 And we faid unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one: and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him,

21 And thou faidft unto thy fervants, Bring him down unto me, that i may let mine eyes upon him.

22 And we faid unto my lord, The lad can not leave his father: for if he thould leave his father, his father would die.

23 And thou faidit unto thy fervants, Ex. cept your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall fee my face no more.

24 And it came to pats, when we came up unto thy fervant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

25 And our father faid, Go again, and buy us a little food.

13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man hisals, and returned to the city..

Jofeph's house, (for he was yet there ;) and Greg's hot Jean and his brethren came to they tell before him on the ground.

15 And Jofeph faid unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? Wot ye not that fuh a man as I can certainly divine?

16 And Judah fad, What hall we fay unto rry lord? what thall we (peak or how thall we clear ourselves! God hath found out the iniquity of thy fervants: behold, we are my lord's fervants, both we, and be alfo with whom the cup is found.

26 And we faid, We cannot go down if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down; tor we may not fee the man's face, except our youngest brother be with us.

27 And thy fervant my father faid unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two fons.

28 And the one went out from me, and I faid, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I faw him not fince.

29 And if ye take this alfo from me, and mischief betal him, ye thall bring down my gray hairs with forrow to the grave.

30 Now therefore, when I come to thy fervant my father, and the lad be not with us (feeing that his lite is bound up in the lad'slife;)

31 It thall come to pafs, when he feeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die and thy fervants fhall bring down the gray hairs of thy fervant our father with forrow to the grave.

32 For thy fervant became furety for the lad unto my father, faying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.

33 Now therefore I pray thee, let thy fervant abide inttead of the fad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

34 For how thall 1 go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? Left peradventure I fee the evil that fhall come on my father.

CHAP. XLV. 1 Jofeph maketh himself known to his brethren: he fendeth for his father.

THEN Jofeph could not refrain himself be.

fore all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me: and there ftood no man with him, while Jo feph made himfelt known unto his brethren.

2 And he wept aloud and the Egyptians, and the house of Pharaoh, heard.

3 And Jofeph faid unto his brethren, I am Jofeph doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not anfwer him; for they were troubled at his prefence.

4 And Jofeph faid unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you: and they came near. And he faid, I am Jofeph your brother, whom ye fold into Egypt.

5 Now therefore, be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye fold me hither: for God did fend me before you to preferve

lite.

6 For thefe two years bath the famine been in the land; and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor

harvest.

7 And God fent me before you to preferve you a pofterity in the earth, and to fave your lives by a great deliverance.

8 So now, it was not you that fent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his houfe, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9 Hafte ye and go up to my father, and

departed: and he laid unto them, See that ye fa not out by the way.

25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,

26 And told him, faying, Jofeph is yet alive, and he is governor overall the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart tainted, tor he believed them not.

27 And they told him all the words of Jo feph, which he had faid unto them: and when he faw the waggons, which Jofeph had fent to carry him, the fpirit of Jacob their fa ther revived.

28 And Ifrael faid, It is enough; Jofeph my fon is yet alive: I will go and fee him before I die.

CHAP. XLVI.

1 Facob is comforted by God at Beer-Sheha: She geeth into Egypt: 2870feph meeteth him.

fay unto him, Thus faith try fon Jofeph, God AND Ifrael took his journey with all that he

hath made me lord of all Egypt; come down unto me, tarry not.

Io and thou shalt dwell in the land of Gofhen, and thou thalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children's children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that

thou haft.

11 And there will I nourish thee, (for yet there are five years of famine,) left thou, and thy houthold, and all that thou haft, come to poverty.

12 And, behold, your eyes fee, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that fpeaketh unto you.

13 And ye thall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have feen: and ye fhall hafle, and bring down my father hither.

14 And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon

his neck.

15 Moreover, he kiffed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.

16 And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's houfe, faying, Jofeph's brethren are come and it pieafed Pharaoh well, and his

(ervants.

17 And Pharaoh faid unto Jofeph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; fade your beafts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan.

18 And take your father, and your houfholds, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye mall eat the fat of the land.

19 Now thou art commanded, this do ye: Take you waggons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.

20 Alfo regard not your ftuff: for the good of all the land of Egypt is your's.

21 And the children of Ifrael did fo: and Jofeph gave them waggons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way."

22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of filver, and five changes of raiment.

23 And to his father he fent after this manner; ten affes laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten the-aTes laden with corn and bread, and meat for his father by the way.

24 So he fent his brethren away, and they

had, and came to Beer-theba, and offered facrifices unto the God of his father Ifaac. 2 And God fpake'unto Ifrael in the vifion of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he faid, Here am I.

3 And he faid, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great tion.

4 I will go down with thee into gypt; and I will alfo furely bring thee up again: and Jofeph thall put his hand upon thine eyes.

5 And Jacob rofe up from Beer-theba: and the fons of Ifrael carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the waggons which Pharaoh had fent to carry him.

6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his feed with him.

12 And the fons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the fons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

13¶And the fons of Ifachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.

14 And the fons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.

13 Thefe be the fons of Leah, which the bare unto Jacob in Padan-aram, with his daughter Dinah: all the fouls of his fons and his daugh ters were thirty and three.

16 And the fons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.

17 And the fons of Afher; Jimnah, and Ifhuah, and Ifui, and Beriah, and Serah their fifter. And the fons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.

18 Thefe are the fons of Zilpah, whom La ban gave to Leah his daughter: and these the bare unto jacob, even fixteen fouls.

23 And the fens of Dan; Hushim. 24 And the fons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.

25 Thefe are the fons of Bilhah, which Lahan give unto Rachel his daughter; and the bare thefe unto jacob: all the fouls were jeven.

25 All the fouls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, befides Jacob's fons wives, all the fouls were three Icore and fit.

27 And the fons of Jofeph, which were borne him in Egypt, were two fouls: all the fouls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threefcore and ten.

28 And he fent Judah before him unto Jofeph, to direct his face unto Gothen; and they came into the land of Gothen.

29 And Jofeph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Ifrael his father to Goshen, and prefented himself unto him: and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

30 And Ifrael faid unto Jofeph, Now let me die, fince I have feen thy face, because thou arr yet alive.

31 And Jofeph faid unto his brethren, and unto his father's houfe, I will go up, and fhew Pharaoh, and fay unto him, My brethren, and my father's houfe, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me:

32 And the men are fhepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle: and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.

33 And it thall come to país, when Pharaoh fhall call you, and fhall fay, What is your Occupation!

34 hat ye fhall fay, Thy fervants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we and alfo our fathers; that ye may dwell in the land of Gothen: for every thepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians."

CHA P. XLVII. 1ffer prefenteth five of his brethren, and bis father, before Pharaoh: 11 he giveth them habitation and maintenance. THEN Jofeph came and told Pharaoh, and fald, My father, and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Go.

And he took fome of his brethren, even five men, and prefented them unto Pharaoh. 3 And Pharaoh faid unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they faid unto Pharaoh, Thy fervants are thepherds, both we and also our fathers.

4 They faid moreover unto Pharaoh, For to foje ara in the land are we come; for thy

cattle.

8 And Pharaoh faid unto Jacob, How old art thou?

9 And Jacob faid unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers, in the days of their pilgrimage.

10 And Jacob bleffed Pharaoh, and went out from betore Pharaoh.

11 And Jofeph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a poffeffion in the land of Egypt, in the beft of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

12 And Jofeph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's houfhold, with bread, according to their families.

13 And there was no bread in all the land: for the famine was very fore, fo that the land of Egypt, and all the land of Canaan, fainted by reafon of the famine.

14 And Jofeph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in. the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought and Joseph brought the money into

Pharaoh's house.

15 And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Jofeph, and faid, Give us bread: for why thould we die in thy pre fence? for the money faileth.

16 And Jofeph faid, Give your cattle; and will give you for your cattle, if money fail. 17 And they brought their cattle unto Jo feph: and Jofeph gave them bread in exchange for horfes, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the affes; and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

18 When that year was ended, they came unto hin the fecond year, and faid unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is fpent; my lord alfo hath our herds of cattle: there is not aught left in the fight of my lord, but our bodies and our lands.

19 Wherefore fhall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be fervants unto Pharaoh; and give us feed, that we may live and not die, that the land be not defolate.

20 And Jofeph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians fold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: fo the land became Pharaoh's.
