In this compilation of Bible sentences, the translations of George R. Noyes, D.D., are adopted as the standard text, with only occasional changes in favor of the Common Version.
The writer has borrowed freely from " Christian Liturgy,” by F. H. Hedge, D. D., "Book of Worship," by J. F. Clarke, D.D., " Common Prayer," by James Martineau, D. D. ; while he has endeavored to incorporate something of the thought and spirit contained in " The Rod and Staff," and "Prayers,” by Theodore Parker, availing himself of any "Scripture given by inspiration."
This little volume is sent forth in the hope that it may aid the devotion of earnest hearts, by leading them to the worship of the Father. May it be received in charity.
