Cease to do evil, learn to do well;
Seek justice; relieve the oppressed;

Defend the fatherless; plead for the widow.
Come, now, let us reason together, saith the Lord.

Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white

as snow;

Though they be red like crimson, they shall be like wool.

If ye be willing and obedient,

Ye shall eat the good of the land;

But if ye refuse, and be rebellious,

The sword shall consume you. Through justice shall Zion be delivered,

And her reformed sons through righteousness.

But destruction shall fall at once on rebels and sinners; Yea, they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed. The strong shall become tow, and his work a spark of fire;

Both shall burn together, and none shall quench

them.

Come, let us go to the mountain of the Lord,

To the house of the God of the nations,

That he may teach us his ways,

And that we may walk in his paths.

He shall be a judge of the nations,

And an umpire of many kingdoms.

And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares,
And their spears into pruning-hooks.

Nation shall not lift up the sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war any more.

Say ye of the righteous, that it shall be well with him;
For he shall eat the fruit of his doings.
Woe to the wicked: it shall be ill with him;

For the work of his hands shall be repaid him.

Woe to them that join house to house,

That add field to field,

Till there is no place left,

And they dwell alone in the land.

Woe to them that draw calamity with cords of wicked

ness,

And punishment as with wagon-traces.

Woe to them that call evil good, and good, evil;

That put darkness for light, and light for darkness.

Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes,

And prudent in their own conceit.

Woe to them that are valiant to drink wine,

And men of might to mingle strong drink;

That clear the guilty for a reward,

And take away from the righteous his right. Woe to them that make unrighteous decrees, That write oppressive decisions,

To turn away the needy from judgment,

And rob the poor of my people of their right;

That the widows may become their prey,

And that they may plunder the orphans.

Now, unto the King eternal, the immortal, invisible, only God,

Be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

THIRD SERVICE.

THE PROMISED DELIVERER.

HOLY, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts!
The whole earth is full of his glory.

And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall
I send, and who will go for us?

And I said, Behold, here am I; send me.

Take heed, and be quiet;

Fear not, neither let thy heart be faint.

Sanctify ye the Lord of hosts,

And he shall be to you a sanctuary.

Should not a people inquire of their God?

Should they inquire of the dead for the living?

To the word, to the revelation!

If they speak not according to this,

For them no bright morning shall arise;

They shall pass through the land distressed and famished,

And into darkness shall they be driven.

The people that walk in darkness behold a great light; They who dwell in the land of death-like shade,

Upon them a light shineth.

For thou breakest their heavy yoke,

And the rod that smote their backs,

And the scourge of the taskmaster.

There shall spring forth a shoot from the stem of Jesse, And a sprout grow up from his roots.

The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,

The spirit of wisdom and understanding,

The spirit of counsel and might,

The spirit of the knowledge and of the fear of the
Lord.

He shall not judge by the sight of his eyes,

Nor decide by the hearing of his ears.

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor,

And decide with equity for the afflicted of the land. He shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth;

With the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,

And faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Then shall the wolf dwell with the lamb,

And the leopard shall lie down with the kid. The calf, the young lion, and the fatling shall be to gether,

And a little child shall lead them.

The cow and the bear shall feed together;

Together shall their young lie down.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain;

For the land shall be full of the knowledge of the
Lord,

As the waters cover the depth of the sea.

In that day shall the shoot of Jesse stand as a banner to the nations.

And to him shall the Gentiles repair;

And his dwelling-place shall be glorious.

In that day shalt thou say,

Behold, God is my salvation.

Now, unto the King eternal, the immortal, invisible, only God,

Be honor and glory, forever and ever. Amen.

FOURTH SERVICE.

DELIVERANCE AND REJOICING.

WATCHMAN, what of the night?
Watchman, what of the night?

Morning cometh, and also night.

O Jehovah, thou art my God;

I will exalt thee; I will praise thy name:

For thou hast done wonderful things;

Thine ancient purposes are faithfulness and truth.
