The total distance over which coal is transported from the mines to the Company's wharf at Cumberland is-from Slope Mine, 11.97; from Hoffman Mine, 12.90; from Astor Mine, 14.37 miles.

The Company's Railroad descends from the mine toward Cumberland with an average gradient of 135 feet per mile along the slopes of Braddock's Run and Wills. Creek.

Rolling Stock.-Locomotives, 5. Cars (8 tons iron hopper cars, 69; 12 tons iron hopper cars, 38; 12 tons iron scow cars, 2; 7 tons wooden cars, 100), 209 cars, with a total capacity of 1,732 tons; also 4 8-tons, and 2 4-tons, wooden gondola cars; 1 horse car and 1 passenger car. Mine cars of 2 to 24 tons capacity, about 500.

No accounts of earnings, etc., nor of capital, can be obtained. The mortgage debt of the Company was as follows:

Six per cents. of November, 1852, due January 1, 1869, $397,000; 6 per cents. of February, 1864, due February, 1869, $89,000; 6 per cents. of July, 1867, due August 1, 1877, $98,000: total, $584,000.

This is the Illinois portion of a railroad from Plymouth, Ind., on the Pittsburg, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railroad to Bureau Junction, Ill., on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, distant 165 miles. The Indiana portion is organized under the title of the Plymouth, Kankakee and Pacific Railroad. The two companies will eventually consolidate under the latter title. Line of Road.—Jersey City (Hudson River) to Milford (Delaware River)..66 m. Gauge of track, 4 feet 84 inches. Weight of rail, 60 lbs. to yard.

All the line under contract; 15 miles graded; a portion of the iron on the ground, and to be in operation from Jersey City to Barking Ridge, 30 miles, in October next, and the whole line to the Delaware be completed by October, 1871. In connection with the East Pennsylvania Railroad this line will form a very direct east and west route.
