CHAPTER 422.

AN ACT to amend chapter 11 of the revised statutes, entitled "of the salaries of state officers and others."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows.

SECTION 1. That so much of chapter eleven of the rian of state his revised statutes, "of salaries of state officers and torical society. others," as relates to the salary of the corresponding secretary of the state historical society, is hereby amended, so as to read as follows: "For the salary of the corresponding secretary of the state historical society, six hundred dollars, and for the salary of the librarian of said society, one thousand dollars."

Amendatory of sec. 2, chap. 327, laws 1860.

SECTION 2. This act shall be amendatory to section 2 of chapter 327 of the general laws of 1860, so far as the increased appropriation shall increase the responsibility of the society as the trustee of the state. SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after April 1st, 1865. Approved April 10, 1865.

CHAPTER 423.

AN ACT to establish the salary of the assistant state superintendent of public instruction.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The salary of the assistant state supertant state superintendent of public instruction, is hereby fixed and established at fifteen hundred dollars per year, to be drawn quarterly in advance from the state treasury, on the warrant of the secretary of state; and there is hereby annually appropriated out of any moneys in state treasury not otherwise appropriated, a sum sufficient to pay said salary.

SECTION 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent or conflicting with the provisions of this act, are hereby repealed.

AN ACT to amend chapter 126 of the general laws of 1860, entitled

an act to authorize the holding of a special term of the circuit court in and for the county of Jefferson."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section one of chapter 126 of the gen- Special term. eral laws of 1860, is hereby amended, so as to read as follows: "Section 1. A special term of the circuit court in and for the county of Jefferson, shall be holden at the court house, in the village of Jefferson, in said county, on the first Tuesday in June, in each year, to commence at one o'clock on said day: provided, that No grand jury, there shall be no grand jury summoned or empanneled for said term, unless ordered by the judge of the circuit court. When so ordered, a grand jury shall be summoned and empanneled, as provided by law in other

AN ACT to authorize the secretary of state to draw orders upon the state treasurer in favor of Vernon county agricultural society and Columbia county agricultural society, in pursuance of seotion 5 of chapter fifty-three of the general laws of 1858.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The secretary of state is hereby audraw orders on thorized and directed to issue his order upon the state treasurer in favor of the Vernon county agricultural society, and also his order, in like manner, in favor of the Columbia county agricultural society, pursuant to section five of chapter fifty-three of the general laws of 1858, in the same manner as though the annual reports of said societies had been received on the first day of February, A. D. 1865: provided, said agricultural societies shall previously to the passage of this act, each file with the secretary of state a report, verified by oath of their respective secretaries, that the said societies have held an annual fair or exhibition during the year 1864, and that an amount of not less than one hundred dollars has been received by each of said socities during the year from other sources than from the

state.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

AN ACT to vacate a certain alley in the city of Beaver Dam.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The alley running through the center vacated.

Dam, (in the fourth ward of the city of Beaver Dam,
Dodge county, Wisconsin,) is hereby vacated.

CHAPTER 428.

IN ACT to vacate a cemetery in the town of Bangor, La Crosse county.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The cemetery laid out and platted by vacated. John Wheldon, on the southeast quarter of the northeast quarter of section No. (5) five, township No. (16) sixteen, of range No. (5) five west, in the town of Bangor, La Crosse county, and recorded in book of plats on page 56, in the office of register of deeds for said county, is hereby vacated.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Approved April 10, 1865.

School moneys to

town of Kendall.

AN ACT to authorize the superintendent of public instruction to apportion school moneys to the town of Kendall, in La Fayette county.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The superintendent of public instrucbe apportioned to tion is hereby authorized and directed to apportion to the town of Kendall, in the county of La Fayette, the full amount of school moneys to which said town would have been entitled the present year, if the annual report of school district number six, of said town, for the year 1861, had been made at the time prescribed by law.

SECTION 2.

The town clerk of the said town of ed to district No. Kendall, is hereby directed to apportion, for the pres ent year, to district number six, of said town, its full share of all school moneys coming into the hands of the town treasurer, the same as if the annual report of said district for the year 1864, had been received by him at the time fixed by law for making such report.
