6 In such society as this

My weary soul would rest :

The man that dwells where Jesus is,
Must be for ever bless'd.

COME,

(PHIL. iv. 4.)

we that love the Lord, And let our joys be known;

Join in a song with sweet accord,

And thus surround the throne.

The sorrows of the mind
Be banish'd from the place;
Religion never was design'd
To make our pleasures less.

The God that rules on high,
And thunders when he please,

That rides upon the stormy sky,

And manages the seas;

[blocks in formation]

Our Father, and our love;

S. M.

He shall send down his heavenly powers
To carry us above.

5

There we shall see his face,

And never, never sin;

There from the rivers of his grace

Drink endless pleasures in. N

6 Yes, and before we rise

To that immortal state,

The thoughts of such amazing bliss
Should constant joys create.

7

The men of grace have found
Glory begun below,

Celestial fruits on earthly ground

From faith and hope may grow.

8 Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;

We're marching thro' Immanuel's ground
To fairer worlds on high.

1 TO, God is here! let us adore,. And own how dreadful is this place!

Let all within us feel his power,

And silent bow before his face!

Who know his power, his grace who prove,
Serve him with awe, with reverence love.

2 Lo, God is here! Him day and night
The united choirs of angels sing
To him enthron'd above all height,

Heaven's host their noblest praises bring: Disdain not, Lord, our meaner song, Who praise thee with a stammering tongue,

IT

3 Gladly the toys of earth we leave, I Wealth, pleasure, fame, for thee alone;

To thee our will, soul, flesh we give ;
O take, O seal them for thine own!
Thou art the God, thou art the Lord!
Be thou by all thy works ador'd.

4 Being of Beings! may our praise
Thy courts with grateful fragrance fill:
Still may we stand before thy face,
Still hear and do thy sovereign will:
To thee may all our thoughts arise,
Ceaseless, accepted sacrifice!

1 LONG have I sat beneath the sound Of thy salvation, Lord;

But still how weak my faith is found,
And knowledge of thy word!

2 Oft I frequent thy holy place,
And hear almost in vain;
How small a portion of thy grace
My memory can retain!

8 Great God, thy sovereign power impart
To give thy word success;
Write thy salvation in my heart,
And make me learn thy grace.

4 Shew my forgetful feet the way
That leads to joys on high;

There knowledge grows without decay,
And love shall never die.

ORD, dismiss us with thy blessing;
Fill our hearts with joy and peace!

Let us each, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace :
O refresh us,

Travelling through this wilderness,

2 Thanks we give, and adoration,
For thy gospel's joyful sound;"
May the fruits of thy salvation
In our hearts and lives abound!
May thy presence

With us evermore be found!

3 So, whene'er the signal's given
Us from earth to call away,
Borne on angels' wings to heaven,
Glad the summons to obey,
May we ever

Reign with Christ in endless day!

I seal'd the grace with blood.

My life and soul, my heart and flesh,

Which Jesus did bequeath;

5 Sweet is the memory of his name,
Who bless'd us in his will,
And to his testament of love
Made his own life the seal.

1 H Was God's eternal Son!
TOW condescending and how kindi

Our misery reach'd his heavenly mind,
And pity brought him down.

2 When justice, by our sins provok'd,
Drew forth its dreadful sword,
gave his soul up to the stroke
Without a murmuring word.

He

3 He sunk beneath our heavy woes,
To raise us to his throne;

There's ne'er a gift his hand bestows y
But cost his heart a groan."

4 This was compassion like a God, Tool
That when the Saviour knew...

The price of pardon was his blood,
His pity ne'er withdrew.

5 Now, though he reigns exalted high,T
His love is still as great;

6 Here let our hearts begin to melt, o r While we his death record,

And, with our joy for pardon'd guilt,
Mourn that we pierc'd the Lord.
