SECTION 1. The objects of the National Federation of Post Office Clerks shall be to unite the postal clerks in one brotherhood for their social and economic advancement, and to aid in the perfection of the postal service. It has been demonstrated by past experience that the trade union movement as exemplified in the American Federation of Labor is the best and most practical method for advancing the interests of all wage-earners; therefore we desire to be and to remain in full affiliation with that body.

It shall be the purpose of the National Federation of Post Office Clerks to advance the interests of the postal employees and the postal service, and to aid all workers in distress.

HOW TO ORGANIZE.

Three or more clerks can organize a local union, and in smaller offices, where there are but one or two clerks, they can become members-at-large, by paying the regular monthly per capita of 15c. Application for charter accompanied by the regular charter fee of $1.00, also application for membership-at-large, should be sent directly to Thomas F. Flaherty, Secretary-Treasurer, A. F. of L. Building, Washington, D. C.

Further information cheerfully given on application.

LEGISLATIVE PROGRESS OF POSTAL EMPLOYEES SINCE DATE OF
AFFILIATION.

1907-Higher Salary Classification Law.
1912-Eight-hour Law.

1912-Restoration of the Right of Petition.
1912-Weekly Rest Law.

1914-Compensation-for-Injury Law.

Prior to the time of affiliation, August, 1906, the Postal Clerks had no eighthour law, weekly rest, wage classification, or workman's compensation laws. Moreover, they were "gagged" by an executive order and could not petition Congress for a redress of grievances. With affiliation, came progress the strength to accomplish needed reforms. Today the Postal Clerk is marching with his fellowworkers in the Organized Labor Movement, enjoying the benefits of a shorter workday and an increased wage.
