Thy Property is always to have Mercy: To thee only it appertaineth to forgive Sins. Spare me therefore, Good Lord, fpare me whom thou haft redeemed; enter not into Judgment with thy Servant, who-am vile Earth, and a. miferable Sinner; but fo turn thine Anger from me, who meekly acknowledge my Vileness, and truly repent me of my Faults, and fo inake hafte to help me in this World, that I may ever live with thee in the World to come, through Jefus Chrift our Lord.

Urn thou me, Lord, and fo fhall I be turned. Be favourable, O Lord, be favourable to thy Servant, who turns to thee in Weeping and Praying. For thou art a Merciful God, full of Compaffion, Long-fuffering, and of great Pity. Thou fpareft, when we deferve Punishment; and in thy Wrath thinkest upon Mercy. Spare thy Servant, good Lord, fpare me and let me not be brought to Confufion.

Hear me, O Lord, for thy Mercy is great; and after the Multitude of thy Mercies look upon me; through the Merits and Mediation of thy Bleffed Son, Jefus Christ our Lord." 4

way the Sins of those who truly repent, that thou remembrest them no more; Open thine Eye of Mercy upon me thy Servant, who moft earnestly defire Pardon and Forgiveness.

Renew in me, most loving Father, whatsoever hath been decayed by the fraud and malice of the Devil, or by my own carnal Will and Frailnefs. Preferve and continue me (who am now a weak fick Member) in the Unity of the Church. Confider my Contrition. Accept my Tears; Afwage my Pain, as fhall feem to thee most expedient for me.

Thus I would Advife the Sick Perfon to Pray, in the Words of Holy Scripture, and in the Forms of our Church. Which to Regular Devout Chriftians, are much more affecting than Private Compofures. And that the Sick Man may Pray in Faith, and may comfortably hope that God will hear his Prayers; let him read and confider the following Promifes, which God hath graciously made, of Pardon and Forgiveness to the truly Penitent.

When the wicked man turneth away from his Wickedness, that he hath committed, and doth that which is lawful and right, he shall fave his Soul alive.

As I live, faith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the Death of the Wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way, and live; turn ye from your evil ways, for why will ye Die? Ezek. 33. 11.

Let the wicked forfake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your Thoughts, neither are your ways my Ways, faith the Lord.

For as the Heavens are higher than the Earth, So are my Ways higher than your ways and my
