The Lord is merciful and gracious, flow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide : neither will be keep his anger for ever. For he knoweth our frame:

he remembreth that we are Duft. Like as a father pitieth his Chil dren; fo the Lord pitieth them that fear him. Pfal. 103. 8, 9,

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Cor. 4. 17.

Why art thou caft down, O my foul and why art thou difquieted within me? Hope thou in God, for I fhall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance and my God. Pfal.

And

When I am weak, then am I Arong. 2 Cor. 12. 10. though the outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. Whilst we look not at the things which are feen, but at the things which are not feen: For the things which are feen are Temporal; but the Things which are not feen are Eternal. 2 Cor. 4. 16, .18.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I fay, on the Lord. Pfal. 27. 14.

But when we are judged, we are chaftened of the Lord, that we fhould not be condemned with the world. I Cor. 11. 32.

Blessed is the man that endureth Temptation: for when he is tried, he fhall receive the Crown of life, which the Lord hath promifed to them that love him. Jam. 1. 12.

And behold we account them happy which endure. Te have heard of the Patience of fob, and have feen the end of the Lord: that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. Jam. 5. 11.

It is good for me that. I have been afflicted; that I may learn thy Statutes. I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness haft afflicted me. Pfal. 119. 71, 75.
