Q. What is it to deny ourselves?

A. To give up our own will in all things to God's Will.

A. To go against our own appetites and passions.

Q. Why should these natural inclinations be denied?

A. Because they are continually leading us to evil, and, if not corrected by selfdenial, will certainly carry us to Hell. Q. What is meant by taking up our cross? A. Patiently submitting to, and willingly embracing, the labours and trials of this short life.

A. I should kneel down and say my prayers

attentively.

Q. Should you do anything more if you have time and opportunity?

A. Yes; I should read a few verses of Holy Scripture, spend some time in medita

tion, and if possible attend Divine Service.*

Q. What should you do before you take your meals?

A. I should never forget to say Grace at meals.

Q. What should you do when you are about your work?

A. I should often lift up my heart to God, saying some short prayer to Him.

Q. What is a good prayer to say when you hear the clock strike?

A. "O my God, teach me to love Thee in time and eternity."

Q. Whom should you consult in choosing a Manual of Prayers?

A. I should ask my Parents and my Pastor what Book of Daily Devotion is best. Q. What rule should you keep about eating, drinking, sleeping, and amusements?

A. I should use them in moderation, and with a pure desire to please God.

Q. Should you be careful to set a good example?

A. Yes, lest I cause my brother to offend. Q. When you meet with any trouble or pain, what should you do?

A. I should at once submit myself to God, saying, "Thy will be done, O Lord; I deserve this for my sins."

Q. How should you act when you meet with temptation?

A. I should at once cry to God for help: "0 God, make speed to save me."

Q. If you fall into sin, what should you do? A. I should cast myself in spirit at my Saviour's feet, saying, "Lord Jesus, be merciful to me a sinner."

Q. Should you let anything whatever make you afraid to pray?

A. No, nothing should make me afraid to pray, for Jesus' sake.

Q. What should you do as often as you meet with any blessing from God?

A. I should at once make Him a return of thanksgiving and love.

Q. What ought you to do before you go to bed?

A. I should examine my conscience, and try to find out what I have done amiss dur

ing the day.

Q. And what should you then do?

A. I should kneel down and say my evening

prayers.

Q. What should be your last thoughts before going to sleep?

A. Of Death, Judgment, and the Love of God.
