IX. St. GREGORY NAZIANZEN, bp. c. D. All as in Mass XIII. p. xxiv, except LESSON. Eccles. xxxix. 6, 14. The just will give his heart to resort early to the Lord that made him, and he will pray in the sight of the Most High. He will open his mouth in prayer, and will make supplication for his sins. For if it shall please the great Lord, he will fill him with the spirit of un wisdom as showers, and in his prayer he will confess derstanding; and he will pour forth the words of his

church with a new crown of martyrdom, by reason of the unconquered sacramental silence of the blessed John: Grant unto us, by his intercession and example, carefully to guard the tongues, and rather suffer all evils in this life, than the injury of the soul. Through our Lord, &c.

SECRET. May we, O Lord, by these thy sacred mysteries, be inflamed with that fire of charity, with which thy renowned martyr John glowed, in offering the same. Thro'.
