LESSOX. Rev. xiv, 1, 5. In those days: I beheld, the Lamb, standing on mount Sion, and with
hima a hundred forty-four thousand, baving his name and the name of his father written on their forebeads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of great thunder: and the voice which I heard, was as the voice of barpers, harping on their harps. And they sung as it were a canticle, before the throne, and before the four living creatures, and the ancients,
and no man could say the canticle, but those hunmen dred forty-four thousand, who were purchased from
the earth. These are they who were not 1: filed with wonen: for they are virgins. These follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were purchased from among men, the first fruits to God, found no lie; for they are without spot before the throne of God.
GRAD. Ps. 23. Our soul hath been delivered, as 2 sparrow out of the share of the fowlers. V. The Snare is broken, and we are delivered: our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and warth.
TRACT. Ps. lxxviii. They have poured out the blood of thy Saints, as water round about Jeru. salem. V. And there was none to bury them. K. Avenge, O Lord, the blood of thy saints which has been poured out upon the earth.
But if this feast be celebrated on Sunday, the tract is omitted, and in its place the following is said :

GOSPEL. Matt. xii. 13, 18. At the same time : An angel of the Lord appeared in sleep to Joseph Lain saying: Arise, and take the Child and his Mother, and fly into Egypt; and be there until I shall tell thee.
