Little Mabel answered: "I am not sure, but I think they were Miss Ouri, Ida Ho, Mary Land, Callie Fornia, Louisa Anna, Della Ware, Minnie Sota and Mrs. Sippi."

It is said that Marco Polo, who visited Japan in the 13th Century, brought back tales of "water and milk ices" made by the people of the East.

In Paris, frozen fruit juices were introduced from Italy by Catherine de Medici.

At one of the famous banquets given by Louis XIV of France, there was served "a delicious sweetmeat, cold and compact as marble," probably ice cream.

"Some boys are not particularly fond of bathing at home in a bath tub. But get half a dozen of these same youngsters on the banks of a creek, or the shore of the lake, and they suddenly develop a real enthusiasm as to the importance of keeping clean."

One good way to start the baby right is to have its birth registered with the Department of Health. This costs you nothing and means nach to the baby in years to come.
