RESOLUTION allowing the committee on special legislation, of the house of representatives, to sit during the interim of the session.

Resolved, That the committee on special legislation of the house of representatives be allowed to sit during the interim of the session, for the purpose of holding public hearings on the petition of Thomas M. Clarke and others; and on the act providing for weekly payments to employees of corporations.

RESOLUTION asking the opinion of the supreme court.

Resolved That the honorable the supreme court be and they hereby are respectfully requested to give their opinion as to whether or not chapter 828 of the Public Laws, passed at the January session, A. D. 1890, repeals the following clause of section 21, chapter 731 of the Public Laws, passed January session, A. D. 1889: "Provided, that in case no ballots are provided at any voting place in accordance with the foregoing provisions of the act, or in case no such ballots are at the polls and ready for the use of voters, the voters at such voting place may use any ballot and provide themselves therewith;" and to transmit the same to this senate at the ensuing January session of the general assembly.

RESOLUTION appropriating the sum of thirty-five hund-
red dollars to fit up suitable quarters and company 1890.
rooms for companies E, F and H of the 2d Regiment
of Infantry, Providence.

Resolved, That the sum of thirty-five hundred dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated to fit up suitable quarters and company rooms in the city of Providence, to be used as a drill-hall and armory for companies E, F and H of the 2d Regiment of Infantry, Brigade R. I. Militia; said amount of thirty-five hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to be expended under the direction of the quartermaster general, subject to the approval of the governor.

Resolved, That Edwin Bigelow, of the town of Warwick, be and he is hereby continued as state beneficiary at Perkins Institute of Boston, in the commonwealth of Massachusetts, for the ensuing year.

RESOLUTION to allow Adelaide M. Coleman to build a wharf in the town of Tiverton.

Voted and resolved, That the said Adelaide M. Coleman be and she is hereby authorized and empowered to build, or cause to be built a wharf into the waters of Seaconnet river from her land in the town of Tiverton, for a steamboat landing or for such other purposes as she may desire; said wharf not to exceed one hundred feet in length and thirty-five feet in width: Provided, that said wharf be located at a place to be approved by and be erected under the direction of the town council of said town of Tiverton.

RESOLUTION to suspend rules for the engrossing of acts.

Resolved, That joint rules 6, 7, 8 and 9 be and they are hereby suspended for the balance of the present session, and that the joint committee upon engrossed acts be and they are hereby relieved from engrossing any of the acts already passed during the present ses

sion.

RESOLUTION authorizing the governor to hire suitable drill hall and company rooms in the city of Providence, for companies E, F and H of the Second Regiment of Infantry, Brigade R. I. Militia, at an annual expense of not more than twelve hundred dollars.

Resolved, That the governor be, and he hereby is authorized to lease, in behalf of the state, a suitable drill hall with company rooms for companies E, F and H, in the city of Providence, at an annual rental of not exceeding twelve hundred dollars, and the said sum of twelve hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated for the purpose, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropri ated.
