RESOLUTION changing the name of James H. McPartlin Passed May 29,

of Woonsocket.

Resolved, That the name of James H. McPartlin of Woonsocket, R. I., be and the same is hereby changed to that of James H. Higgins, and that by the latter name he may have the same rights and privileges and be subject to the same liabilities he would have had and been subject to if his name had not been changed as aforesaid.

RESOLUTION upon the petition of Mary A. Currie of Passed May 29, Smithfield, for change of name.

Resolved, That the prayer of said petition be and the same is hereby granted, and that the name of the said Mary A. Currie be and the same hereby is changed to Mary A. Muffin, and that by said latter name she be entitled to all the powers and privileges and subject to all the duties and liabilities she would have been entitled and subjected to had not her name been changed as aforesaid.

RESOLUTION for payment of money appropriated at the May session, 1889, for the office of commissioners of 1890. shell fisheries.

Resolved, That the state auditor be authorized to draw his order on the general treasurer for the payment of the sum appropriated by the general assembly of said state at its May session, A. D. 1889, for the purchase of furniture for the office of the commissioners of shell fisheries.

RESOLUTION making appropriation for jurors' chairs for the Newport county courthouse.

Resolved, That the sum of three hundred dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of providing suitable seats to replace the benches now in use for accommodation of juries in the room in the courthouse in Newport county, used by the supreme court and court of common pleas, and William J. Underwood and William S. Cranston are hereby appointed a committee to superintend the expenditure thereof; and the state auditor is hereby directed to draw his order on the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, or such portion thereof as may be necessary, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, in favor of such committee, upon the receipt of properly authenticated vouchers.

RESOLUTION appropriating four hundred dollars for the repair of the flagging around the soldiers' and sailors' monument in the city of Providence.

Resolved, That the sum of four hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of repairing the flagging around the soldiers' and sailors' monument, in the city of Providence, said money to be expended under the direction of the secretary of state.

RESOLUTION appropriating five hundred dollars for the purchase of carpets for the state house in Providence.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropri ated for the purpose of purchasing carpets for the state house in Providence, to be expended under the direction of the secretary of state.

sary furniture for the commissioner of industrial 1890.
statistics' office.

Resolved, That the sum of three hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to provide necessary furniture for the office of the commissioner of industrial statistics, and the state auditor is hereby authorized to draw his order on the general treasurer for said sum of three hundred dollars, or any portion thereof, on the receipt of properly authenticated vouchers signed by said commis

sioner.

RESOLUTION authorizing the general treasurer to issue Passed June 20, a duplicate check in place of one lost.

Resolved, That the general treasurer be and he hereby is empowered and authorized to issue a duplicate check for the sum of one hundred ten dollars and eighty cents, payable to the order of Elmer B. Eddy, and that the said Elmer B. Eddy upon the receipt of said check give bond with surety satisfactory to the general treasurer, conditioned to hold the state of Rhode Island harmless, in case of the presentation for payment of check numbered 75,749, issued May 14, 1890, for one hundred ten dollars and eighty cents, in favor of Elmer B. Eddy, which said check was lost and has never been presented for payment.

RESOLUTION appropriating three thousand dollars for the expenses of the militia of the state in attendance at the cotton centennial at Pawtucket.

Resolved, That the sum of three thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying the expenses of the state militia in attendance at the cotton centennial at Pawtucket, and the state auditor is hereby authorized to draw his orders on the state treasurer for the payment of the same.

RESOLUTION appropriating five hundred dollars for repairs and painting in interior of Providence county court house.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of repairing and painting in the interior of the Providence county court house, and the state auditor is hereby instructed to draw his order on the state treasurer for so much thereof as may be necessary upon receipt of properly authenticated vouchers, said sum to be expended under the direction of the sheriff of said county.

RESOLUTION to purchase a flag, flag-staff, etc., for the state normal school.

Resolved, That the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of erecting a flag, flag-staff, etc., at the state normal school, said sum or necessary portions of said sum to be expended under the direction of the state board of education; and that the state auditor be and hereby

is directed to draw his order on the general treasurer for said sum payable to the order of John W. Davis, chairman of said board.

RESOLUTION making appropriation for the care of pub lic documents by the Newport historical society.

Resolved, That the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of enabling the Newport historical society to make suitable provision for the care and preservation of the public documents and records in its possession, and the state auditor is hereby directed to draw his order on the general treasurer for the payment of said sum in favor of the treasurer of said society; and the president of said society shall annually in the month of January hereafter make report to the secretary of state of the condition of said society and its work, of the documents and records in its possession and of such other matters as may be proper.
