RESOLUTION to appoint a committee to transfer the records and property of the offices of the clerk of the supreme court and court of common pleas in Newport county, from the present clerk to the clerkelect.

Resolved, That William P. Clarke and Andrew K. Quinn be and they are hereby appointed a committee to transfer the books, records, papers and other property of the offices of the clerk of the supreme court and court of common pleas in Newport county, from the present incumbent clerk to the new clerk thereof, and to give and to take proper receipts therefor.

RESOLUTION authorizing the governor to appoint one or more delegates to attend the International Congress of sanitarians and physicians to meet in Berlin, Germany, in August, 1890.

Resolved, That the governor be and he is hereby authorized to appoint one or more delegates to attend the international congress of sanitarians and physicians to meet in Berlin, Germany, in August, 1890, to serve without expense to the State.

RESOLUTION instructing the secretary of state to prepare Passed May 28, a legislative manual.

Resolved, That the secretary of state be and he is hereby instructed to prepare a legislative manual for the use of the general assembly containing the rules and orders thereof, and such other matter as he may think proper, and cause five thousand copies of the same to be printed; also, one hundred and fifty copies in pocket size, containing the rolls of membership, the committees, the rules and orders of the two houses, and such other matter as may be deemed advisable. Five hundred copies shall be placed in the hands of the secretary of state for distribution among the state and public libraries, the newspapers and the schools; two hundred copies also shall be reserved by him to be sold at cost price to whomsoever wishes them; one hundred copies shall be placed at the disposal of the governor; and the remainder shall be equally distributed among the senators and representatives of the general assembly; provided that in compiling the rules and orders he shall arrange any amendments or additional rules in their proper order, and re-number said rules and orders, if necessary, accordingly.

RESOLUTION to print copies of the Public Laws.

Resolved, That the secretary of state be and he is hereby authorized to cause two thousand copies of the Public Laws, passed at the sessions of the general assembly, A. D. 1890, to be printed for distribution to such members as have already received or may hereafter receive copies of the Public Statutes.

Resolved, That joint rules Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 9 be and the same hereby are suspended for the present May session, and the secretary of state is hereby directed.

Resolved, That the secretary of state be and he hereby is directed to furnish one copy of the Public Statutes, and of the supplementary Public Laws, to each member of the general assembly who has not hitherto received the same.

RESOLUTION upon the petition of James Hudson of Providence, praying that he may be relieved from liability upon a certain recognizance entered into by him, to the state, as surety for one Charles Winslow.

Resolved, That the prayer of James Hudson be and the same is hereby granted, and the said James Hudson is hereby released and discharged from all liability on account of said recognizance, and the attorneygeneral is hereby directed to discontinue all proceedings against said James Hudson for the collection of the amount of said recognizance: Provided, the said James Hudson pay all taxable costs upon any suits of scire facias against him thereon.

RESOLUTION approving the appointment by His Excellency, the Governor, of the commission to purchase new uniforms for the state militia.

Resolved, That the house and senate do hereby consent to and approve of the appointment of Col. Hunter C. White, Asst. Adjt. General; Col. Wm. H. Thornton, of the 1st Regiment of Infantry; Lieut. Col. Jas. H. McGann, of the 2nd Regiment of Infantry; John McManus, and John Waters, commissioners to purchase new uniforms for the state militia, in accordance with resolution passed at January session, A. D., 1890.

RESOLUTION making an appropriation of $25,000 for
the purpose of introducing industrial training at the 1890.
Sockanosset School for Boys.

Resolved, That the sum of $25,000 (twenty-five thousand dollars) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be expended by the State Board of Charities and Corrections for the purpose of preparing to introduce industrial teaching at the Sockanosset School for Boys; by constructing other chapel and hospital accommodations, so that the present main building, within which said accommodations now are, may be used more largely for workshops, and by makiug such changes in said main building, erecting such new buildings and providing such tools and apparatus as may be necessary; and the state auditor is hereby directed to draw his orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of such portions of said appropriation as the said state board may require, upon the receipt of the proper vouchers.

for money expended for lockers for the care of state
property and repairs to armory.

Resolved, That the sum of six hundred and twentyfive dollars be and the same is hereby ordered to be paid to the first and second separate companies of infantry, R. I. M., for bills paid by said companies for lockers and repairs to armory, and the state auditor is hereby directed to draw his order upon the general treasurer for so much as may be necessary out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

RESOLUTION appropriating the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to Company B, 1st Battalion of Cavalry, R. I. M., to reimburse it for money expended for lockers in which to keep the property of the state.

Resolved, That the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars be and the same is hereby ordered to be paid to Company B, 1st Battalion of Cavalry, R. I. M., for bills paid by said company for lockers in which can be kept the uniforms and equipments of said company and belonging to the state, and the state auditor is hereby directed to draw his order upon the general treasurer for so much as may be necessary out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

Resolved, That the senate committee on judiciary be and they hereby are authorized to employ a clerk.

RESOLUTION empowering the committee on special legislation of the house of representatives to employ a clerk.

Resolved, That the committee on special legislation of the house of representatives have a clerk for the ensuing year, and that said clerk receive the same compensation as other clerks..

RESOLUTION to appoint a clerk for the house committee on corporations.

Resolved, That the committee on corporations of the house be and they are hereby authorized to employ a clerk.
