[190] Next is presented a comparative statement of electric revenue statistics by years for the same period. This statement shows, for each class of service, the number of customers served, the quantity sold expressed in kilowatt-hours, and the percent of total kilowatt-hours sold taken by each class of purchaser. It shows also the amount received therefor and the percent such amount is of the aggregate revenues from sales of electric energy, and the average yearly revenue per kilowatt-hour received from each class of purchaser.

It shows, further, the total kilowatt-hours produced in each year and its ultimate disposition both in kilowatt-hours and percent of total.

[193] A composite statement based on the preceding table of electric revenue statistics showing those statistics combined for the period January 1, 1924, to December 31, 1931, is as follows:

Summary of electric sales for period 1924 to 1931, inclusive

[blocks in formation]

1 Based on kilowatt-hours used but the revenue received includes maintenance of lighting facilities, in addition to revenue for energy furnished.

Less than 0.01 of 1 percent.

The ratio of kilowatt-hours sold, supplied without charge, used by the company and lost in transmission to the total energy produced and purchased by the company for the combined period 1924 to 1931, inclusive, is shown by the following tabular statement:

Similar data for each of the years 1924 to 1931, inclusive, are shown in a table on the following page.

[195] TABLE 24.-Ratio of kilowatt-hours sold by Buffalo General Electric Co., supplied without charge, used by company and lost, to total, by years, 1924 to 1931, inclusive

[196] A comparison of the total number of kilowatt-hours of energy sold to the revenue received therefor, together with the average revenue per kilowatt-hour received in each of the years 1924 to 1931, inclusive, is shown below:

Electric revenues-Farm service, $20,480.-Farm users of electric energy ranked seventh both as to quantity purchased and as to revenue produced for the combined period 1924 to 1931, inclusive.

The following tabular statement shows, for the years in which sales were made, statistical data relating to sales to this class of service:

[blocks in formation]

Prior to 1928 there were no sales recorded to farm service. Sales to this class of customers has since been of minor importance. The number of customers has increased to 1930, inclusive, as has the average consumption per customer, but the quantity so sold has remained a small part of the total sales.

In the first year in which electric energy was delivered to farms, namely, 1928, the quantity so delivered represented less than one one-hundredth of 1 percent of the total quantity sold to all classes of purchasers. It reached its highest point in 1930, when it constituted three one-hundredths of 1 percent and receded to two one-hundredths of 1 percent in 1931.

In 1928 the revenues received from this class of service amounted to less than one one-hundredth of 1 percent of the total electric revenues received, and in 1931 they represented four one-hundredths of 1 percent.

The average revenue per kilowatt-hour in 1928 amounted to 3.43 cents. This has decreased each year through 1930, when it amounted to 2.88 cents. In 1931 it amounted to 2.95 cents, while the average for the entire period is 2.92 cents. [198] Electric revenues Residential service, $28,054,982.-Residential users of electric energy ranked third both as to quantity and revenue produced for the combined years 1924 to 1931, inclusive. During the period under review, revenues from this class of purchasers amounted to $28,054,982, which was 28.31 percent of the total revenues received from electric operations. This was received for 821,182,493 kilowatt-hours of electric energy, or for 11.72 percent of the total energy sold. The average revenue per kilowatt-hour of energy sold in the entire period was 3.42 cents.

The tabular statement following sets forth, by years; statistical data relating to sales to this class of service.
