GENERAL OBSERVATIONS. COFFEE.-No alteration can be made in the prices of this article, and the bu. siness doing is very limited, at least by Private Contract. In taking this day's Public Sale (having been the only one for the week of West India Coffee) for guide, we cannot perceive a coolinuation of the improvement in these sorts, but the East India Coffee certainly keep their prices fully. The spirit of speculation on the Spring prices continues, and there remains a confident idea that prices will then he higber than they are now.

SUGAR.—The Sales made of Raw Sugars are very limited ; and as no great decline bas yet taken place, the buyers for Home Trade keep back, in anticipation that prices will come down. The demand for Exportation is equally trivial, and of these sorts the prices are nearly nominal. The East India Sugars are likewise flat, and from the general appearance it is likely that some reduction will take place shortly.

SPICES, &c. dull.
RUMS AND DRY WOODS, less business doing.

TOBACCO.-VIRGINIA. There is little or nothing doing, and our Market is extremely heavy, owing to some further arrivals having taken place; what Sales are making are at reduced prices, principally of dry Virginia. On the whole, we may considor prices as a lower. In Maryland no alteration.
