PSALM XXXVIII.

David moveth God to take compassion of his pitiful case.

LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath; neither chasten me in

thy hot displeasure.

2 For thine arrows b stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. 3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any 1 rest in my bones c because of my sin.

4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine d head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

PSALM XXXIX. David's care of his thoughts, and prayer.

ISAID

To the chief Musician, even to a Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. SAID, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue : b I will keep 1 my mouth with a bridle, while c the wicked is before me. 2 I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was 2 stirred.

4 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know 3 how frail I am.
