A Golden Opportunity.

T is probably true that there are as many different conceptions of the aim of a college education, as there are members of the family collegiate. To a very large number the mission of an educational plant is primarily to furnish the individual with a fund of information upon which, presumably, he will draw later on while more actively engaged in life's great battle. On the other hand a surprisingly few recognize in a college education a means for the development of character and personality as well as for intellectual expansion. The dictum of Mayor McClellan on the occasion of the dedication of our new home is significant. "If you begin life's work with no higher ambition than to reduce your college degree to terms dollars and cents, to treat the four years you have spent here as a mere stride in the race for wealth, then it were better had you never come here, for you have

Class Elections.

The following officers have been elected for the coming term:

Class of February, 1910-Lester Schwartz, President; J. Joblonower, Vice-President; A. Katz, Treasurer; F. Smerling, Secretary; L. Tanz, Athletic Manager; L. Weinstein, Marshal; S. Goldstein, A. Harris, L. Mayers, D. Perlman, Student Council Representatives.

Class of June, 1910-A second ballot is to be held to fill the office of President and Athletic Manager. L. Bernheim was elected Vice-President; J. Greenberg, Secretary; S. M. Messer, Treasurer; E. Gowdy, Marshal; J. Goldstein, J. Hoffman and J. Rabinowitz, Student Council Representatives.

Class of February, 1911-M. Judelsohn, Assistant Editor of the Microcosm. (The Assistant Business Manager will be chosen by the Class of June, 1911.)

Adelphian Trial Debate,

The Adelphian Literary Society held a trial debate last Friday evening at which Messrs. Davidson, Duskind, Apfelbaum and Drachsler (Lenitz, alternate) were chosen as the two teams to debate at the open meeting which will be held in the near future.

On the evening of the 15th ult. President Finley attended a dinner of the American Scandinavian Society. The same evening the President was the guest of the Alumni Association of P. S. 55.

The first meeting of the Student Council for the new term is to be held to-day in Room 208 at 1 P. M.
