And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels: and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger, Gen. xxv. 21-23. Μήπω γὰς γεννηθέντων, μηδὲ πραξάντων τὶ ἀγαθὸν ἢ κακὸν, ἵνα ἡ κατ ̓ ἐκλογὴν τοῦ Θεοῦ πρόθεσις μένῃ, οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων, ἀλλ ̓ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος, (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, a that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth ;) A. D. 60. will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from of their shoulders. This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? Isa. xiv. 24-27. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it, xlvi. 10, 11. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he had purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulgether in one all things in Christ, both ness of times, he might gather to which are in heaven and which are on earth: even in him, In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will, Eph. i. 9-11. b Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
