Ἦλθε δὲ καὶ Νικόδημος (ὁ ἐλθὼν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν νυκτὸς τὸ πρῶτον) φέρων μίγα μα σμύρνης καὶ ἀλόης ὡσεὶ λίτρας ἑκατόν.

And there came also a Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

bThere was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews the same came to Jesus

by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him, John iii. 1, 2.

Ἔλαβον οὖν τὸ σῶμα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, καὶ ἔδησαν αὐτὸ ὀθονίοις μετὰ τῶν ἀρωμάτων, καθὼς ἔθος ἐστι τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ἐνταφιάζειν.

And when Joseph had taken the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, Matt. xxvii. 59.

VER. 41.

Τῶν δὲ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ὅπου ἐσταυρώθη κῆπος, καὶ ἐν τῷ κήπῳ μνημεῖον καινὸν, ἐν ᾧ οὐδέπῳ οὐδεὶς ἐτέθη·

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

VER. 42.

Ἐκεῖ οὖν, διὰ τὴν παρασκευὴν τῶν Ἰου δαίων, ὅτι ἐγγὺς ἦν τὸ μνημεῖον, ἔθηκαν τὸν Ἰησοῦν.

CHAP. XX.—VER. 1.

Τῇ δὲ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ ἔρχεται πρωί, σκοτίας ἔτι οὔτ σης, εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον· καὶ βλέπει τὸν λίθον ἠρμένον ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου.

The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

VER. 2.

Τρέχει οὖν καὶ ἔρχεται πρὸς Σίμωνα Πέτρον, καὶ πρὸς τὸν ἄλλον μαθητὴν ἂν ἐφίλει ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ἥραν τὸν Κύριον ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου, καὶ οὐκ οἴδαμεν ποῦ ἔθηκαν αὐτόν.

Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to a the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

VER. 3.

Εξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ Πέτρος, καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μα θητὴς, καὶ ἤρχοντο εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον.

And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

Καὶ ταῦτα εἰποῦσα, ἐστράφη εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω, καὶ θεωρεῖ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐστῶτα· καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει ὅτι ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐστι.

And when she had thus said, s she turned herself buck, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

Ταῦτα δὲ γέγραπται, ἵνα πιστεύσητε ὅτι ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ Χριστὸς, ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἵνα πιστεύοντες ζωὴν ἔχητε ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ,

a But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might e have life through his name.
