Ordered, That a bill or bills be brought in pursuant to the said resolution, and that Mr. Fitzsimons, Mr. Shearjashub Bourne, and Mr. Griffin, do prepare and bring in the

same.

On motion,

Ordered, That the Committee of the Whole House to whom was committed the bill to regulate the pay of the non-commissioned officers, musicians, and privates, of the militia of the United States, when called into actual service, and for other purposes, be discharged for the farther consideration thereof, and that the said bill be recommitted to Mr. Giles, Mr. Sedgwick, Mr. Heister, Mr. Locke, and Mr. Van Cortlandt.

Mr. William Smith, from the committee to whom was referred the petition of Pierre Egron, made a report, which was read, and ordered to lie on the table.

The House, according to the order of the day, resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole House on the motion of the third instant, "that provision be made, by law, for compensating the sufferers by the depredations of the insurgents in the Western counties of Pennsylvania;" and, after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Cobb reported that the committee had, according to order, had the said motion under consideration, and made some progress therein.

On motion,

Ordered, That the Committtee of the Whole House be discharged from farther proceeding on the said motion, and that so much of the speech of the President of the United States as relates to the subject-matter thereof, be committed to Mr. Hillhouse, Mr. Findley, Mr. Lyman, Mr. Watts, and Mr. William Smith.

Ordered, That the petitition of George Calmese, which was presented to this House on the thirtieth of December, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-three, be referred to the Committee of Claims.

The House, according to the order of the day, resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole House on the report of the committee to whom was referred that part of the speech of the President, which relates to the improvement of harmony with the Indian nations, within the limits of the United States, by fixing and conducting of trading houses; and, after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Cobb reported that the committee had, according to order, had the said report under consideration, and come to a resolution thereupon; which he delivered in at the Clerk's table, where the same was twice read, and agreed to by the House, as followeth: dollars be appropriated for the purpose of carrying on trade with
