PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION IT T has been a great pleasure to collect materials. about the county of Sussex, which has always been my home; but my little book is doubtless full of faults, and it will be most kind of those who detect them, if they will continue to send me their corrections. I have already received most welcome help and criticisms since "Sussex" appeared, which I hope has made its second edition much better than the first. It is only by such kind assistance that any book of the description can be made really useful.
