"This is a work of merit. In the list of plants, several occur additional to those noticed by Ray; even some of the mosses are not forgotten. The author treats largely on figured fossils, of which his book contains many elegant plates."-DR. PULTENEY.

The first fifty-four pages of "this curious and scarce old book " (as it is called by Haworth) contain a minute account of Bees. Mr. Swainson says that this was "the first zoological work ever printed in Britain," but this is a mistake; that honour certainly belonging to Juliana Berners or Barnes, whose work on Hawking, Hunting, &c. was printed at Saint Albans in 1486, and was succeeded by the writings of Turberville, Latham, Markham, and others, on the same subject. In 1568 Hyll printed his Treatise on Bees, which was frequently reprinted duriug the xvith century.
