Part First of this book (pages 1 to 122) is a republication of a compilation, dated October 14, 1895, of important documents relating to the three corporations which, earlier in that year, had been consolidated into The New York Public Library, Astor, Lenox and Tilden Foundations, and to their consolidation. Part Second (pages 123 to 371) is a compilation of important documents, of date subsequent to October 14, 1895, relating to The New York Public Library, Astor, Lenox and Tilden Foundations, and to the various corporations which have been consolidated with it or have transferred their property to it, and to the Gift of Andrew Carnegie.
