simply: "This is no conspiracy against the nations of the earth"; we must say: "In it we are obeying the law of Jesus Christ for the nations.” It is just as true for nations as for individuals that "Whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it." A selfish nation goes down as surely as a selfish man. A people which lives simply to grab, to get more and more empire, to secure fresh fields, and not for the further end of using that empire for the good of humanity, is a people doomed to destruction. Nothing can save it. God's law is for nations. "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto you." So shall

Two empires by the sea,

Two nations great and free,

One anthem raise.

One race of ancient fame,

One tongue, one faith, we claim,
One God, whose glorious name
We love and praise.

What deeds our fathers wrought,
What battles we have fought,

Let fame record.

Now, vengeful passions cease,
Come victories of peace,
Nor hate, nor pride's caprice,
Unsheathes the sword.

Though deep the sea and wide,
'Twixt realm and realm, its tide
Binds strand and strand.

THE ANGLO-AMERICAN ALLIANCE. 199

So be the gulf between
Grey coasts and islands green,
Great populace and queen,

By friendship spanned.

Now may the God above
Guard the dear lands we love,

Or east or west.

Let love more fervent glow,
As peaceful ages go,

And strength yet stronger grow,
Blessing and blest.

The Alliance: and the establishment of a tribunal for the settlement of international disputes! The Alliance: and the deliverance of the oppressed! The Alliance: and the abolition of the military system! The Alliance: and the universal establishment of the Kingdom of God!
