SOLO TENOR, OR VERSE AND FULL,
FOUR VOICES.

Great God! what do I see and hear,
The end of things created:

The Judge of mankind doth appear,
On clouds of glory seated:

The trumpet sounds, the graves restore,
The dead which they contained before,
Prepare my soul to meet him.

Luther.

PSALM C.

1. All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
Him serve with fear, his praise forth tell,
Come ye before him and rejoice.

2. The Lord ye know is God indeed,
Without our aid he did us make;
We are his flock, he doth us feed,
And for his sheep he doth us take.
3. O enter then his gates with praise,
Approach with joy his courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless his name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

4. For why? the Lord our God is good,
His mercy is for ever sure;

His truth at all times firmly stood,

And shall from age to age endure.

Luther.

The same by Tallis.

7.

FULL, FOUR VOICES.

O Lord the maker of all things,
We pray thee now in this Evening,
Us to defend through thy mercy,
From all deceits of our enemie:
Let neither us deluded be

Good Lord, with dream or fantasie :
Our hearts waking in thee thou keep,
That we in sin fall not on sleep.
O Father, through thy blessed Son,
Grant us this our Petition;

To whom with thee and the Holy Ghost
always,

In heaven and earth be laud and praise.

Amen.

King Henry VIII.

8.

FULL, FIVE VOICES.

I call and cry to thee, O Lord,
Give ear unto my plaint:

Bow down thine eyes, and mark my heavy
plight,

And how my Soul doth faint :

For I have many ways offended thee.

Forget my wickedness, O Lord, I beseech

thee.

Tallis.

2 CHRONICLES VI.

9.

FULL, FOUR VOICES.

19. Hear the voice and prayer of thy servants which they make before thee this day:

20. That thine eyes may be open towards this house day and night, ever towards this place of which thou hast said, My Name shall be there. 21. And when thou hearest, have mercy upon them. Tallis.

10.

PERFORMED AT ORDINATIONS. VERSE,

FOUR VOICES.

1. Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,
And lighten with celestial fire.
Thou the anointing Spirit art,
Who dost thy seven-fold gifts impart.

2. Thy blessed unction from above,
Is comfort, life, and fire of love.
Enable with perpetual light

The darkness of our blinded sight.

3. Anoint and cheer our soiled face
With the abundance of thy grace.
Keep far our foes, give peace at home:
Where thou art guide, no ill can come.

4. Teach us to know the Father, Son,
And Thee of both, to be but one;
That, thro' the ages all along,
This may be our endless song;
