FROM FRIDAY, JUNE 26, TO JULY 24,

COTTON.-The extensive sale of Cotton this forenoon at the India House has gone off at a great depression, and only about a fourth of the quantity sold; the remainder was taken in on account of the languid demand, and the great depression of the prices: the reduction generally may he stated at ad, a 1d.per lb. After the India House sale, 651 bags Bengals were offered at public sale; a few lots sold 94d, remainder taken in at 9d.; 102 bags Berbice, chiefly sold 23 d. a 24d.; 130 bags Smyrna, sold at 16, and 170.

SUGAR.-There has been a better supply of Muscovades in the market this week; the fine descriptions fully support the late prices; the brown qualities continue heavy, and are offered on rather lower terms without facilitating sales. The business done in refined goods has been considerable: several extensive shipping houses have purchased freely, but no alteration in the prices can be stated: the supply of refined at market is still limited.-Molasses are not in request, the prices are declining.

There is little doing in Foreign Sugars. COFFEE. The quantity of Coffee brought forward this week hy public sale has been very limited;, the demand has however been very trivial, owing to unfavour able reports from the continental markets: the prices generally may be quoted at a reduction of 2s. per cwt.

OIL.-Greenland Oil continues very heavy only small parcels are disposed of at our quotations.-Southern had given way considerably; several parcels had been disposed of 21, a 31 under our quotations, but an advance has since taken place. The public sale of Oil was chiefly, we believe,

1818.

taken in, Sperm at 701., and it is stated lower prices would be accepted.

RUM, BRANDY, and HOLLANDS. There has been little business done in Rums by private contract. This forenoon a public sale was brought forward, it consisted of 172 puncheons Jamaica, the greater propor tion of inferior qualities; the prices were in consequence rather under the market currency-The finer descriptions of Brandy are enquired after, and are advancing; the inferior descriptions are quoted at a small decline. In Geneva there is no variation.

TALLOW. The prices of Foreign Tallow remain nominally the same.-The Town market is to-day quoted 769., which is ls. higher than last week.

FRIDAY, JULY 3.

COTTON.-The purchases by private contract for the week up to the evening of yesterday, are-50 Bakias 2s. ; 186 Pernams 2s. Id. tó 2s. 14d.; 20 Demeraras 28.

d.; 10 Surinams 2s. 24d. ; 125 Minas 22d.; 40 St. Vincent's 284d.; 314 Bengals 9 to 9fd.-The Cotton market may be stated very beavy.

SUGAR.-The demand for muscovades this week has been very steady; the pur chases have been extensive; the prices are however without any variation.-The Refined market may be stated at prices ls. higher; the request both by the exporters and by the wholesale grocers has continued very considerable during the week. The sale of Sugars at the India House consisted of 18,000 bags; the whole sold much higher than was expected.-Bengal, white, fine and grainey, in chests and bags, 62s. to 64,

6d.; inferior do 54s. to 61s.; low white, and damp, 45s, to 538.; brown 43s. to 46s. Bourbon, dry, 428. to 47s.-This forenoon a public sale of Havannah Sugars was brought forward, it consisted of 1084 boxes; the whole went off freel at prices little varied from the currency by private contractwhite, fine strong, 70%. 6d. and 71s. ordinary 665.; yellow, strong, `51s. to 53; brown 46%, to 48s. 6d.

COFFEE.-The demand for Coffee this week has been brisk and extensive; the prices have improved 2s. per cwt.; the sales very brisk at the advance.-There were no public sales this forenoog, but the purchases reported by private contract were on a very extensive scale; 300 bags St. Domingo were sold so high as 130s.

OIL. The prices of Greenland and Southern Oil are improving; the other descriptions meet a heavy sale.-Rape has given way considerably.

RUM, BRANDY, and HOLLANDS.The demand for Rum this week has considerably revived; the purchases generally at an advance in the prices of about 1d. per gallon.-The best Brandies continue also in request at an improving currency.-In the inferior qualities, and in Geneva, there is no altération.
