NOTE.

This is substantially the same work that was published a few months ago as the "Iowa People's Law Book." That title was adopted because it expressed exactly the chief purpose for which the book was written, viz.: to furnish to the masses of the people of Iowa a reliable and comprehensive legal guide in all the practical. affairs of life. But some of the judges and hundreds of lawyers of the State have found the book to be one of great value and convenience to them in their professional work, and have it in daily use as a book for ready reference. In view of this fact, it has been deemed advisable to publish it under a new title more indicative of the contents and character of the work, and it is now copyrighted and sold as the "Encyclopedia of Iowa Law."

EDITOR'S NOTE.

Chapters 62, 86, 89, 91 and 94 have been omitted from this volume. This was made. necessary by the radical changes made in the law contained in these chapters. If the chapters had been retained they might have been misleading to the reader.

The subjects omitted are Chapter 62 on Game and Fish Law, Chapter 86 on Copyrights, Chapter 89 on Patents and Inventions, Chapter 91 on Pensions and Chapter 94 on Trademarks.

The chapters on Copyrights, Patents and Trade-marks will be found in the Supplement, rewritten and brought down to date. No attempt has been made to rewrite the chapters on Game and Fish Law and Pensions, for these chapters have been practically nullified by recent legislation and are subjects now of little value or interest to the general user of the Encyclopedia.
