Š The fourteenth annual session of the Legislature of the State of Kansas began on the second Tuesday of January, the thirteenth day of said month, A. D. 1874. This being the day designated by the constitution for the meeting of the Legislature, the House of Representatives was called to order at 12 o'clock M., by the Hon. W. H. Smallwood, Secretary of State. The roll of the House was called by districts; the gentlemen answering to their names came forward and subscribed the following oath, which was administered by the Hon. John T. Morton, Judge of the Third Judicial District: "We do solemnly swear that we will support the constitution of the United States, and the constitution of the State of Kansas, and faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Representatives of the State of Kansas.
