GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

Tillable, 95 per cent; surface soil, dark, clayey loam on upland, subsoil, clay; Platte valley, surface soil, dark, sandy loam, subsoil sand.

Untillable, 5 per cent, principally on account of roughness along creeks.

Wells, upland, 15 to 75 feet deep; Platte valley, 5 to 30 feet; vein supply; good.

pasture.

Elkhorn valley, about one and one-half miles wide, very rich, black, vegetable loam; all irri

gable.

Wells, in upland from 40 to 120 feet deep; in valleys, from 10 to 25 feet deep; water supply from veins, but usually abundant.
