Tillable land, 94 per cent; surface soil, dark sandy loam, from one and a half to two and a half feet in depth; subsoil, friable clay for from six inches to several feet in depth, and then silt clay to underflow of water.

The southern part of the county is traversed by the Little Blue river, the valley of which can be all irrigated from that stream.

An irrigation reservoir has been surveyed in the northern part of the county, to be fed from the Platte river, which, if constructed, will make it possible to irrigate a large part of the county.

Fruit-Cherres, plums, apples, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
Timber-Ash, elm, black walnut, hackberry, sycamore, and honey locust.

Alfalfa and sugar beets both succeed well in county.
