sire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put confidence in man: It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put confidence in princes, cxviii. 7-9. Our help is in the name of the Lonb, who made heaven and earth, cxxiv. 8. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jocob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God. Which made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is; which keepeth truth for ever, cxlvi. 36. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Τοίνυν ἐξερχώμεθα πρὸς αὐτὸν ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς, τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν αὐτοῦ φέροντες" a Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach:

a By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season ; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward, Heb. xi. 24-26. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds, xii. 3. Blessed are they which | are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake, Matt. v. 10, 11. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me, xvi. 24. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name, Acts v. 41. We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ: we are weak, but ye are strong: ye are honourable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it; Being defamed, we entreat; we are made as the filth of the world, and are the of scouring of all things unto this day, 1 Cor. iv. 1013. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong, 2 Cor. xii. 10. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with ex
