Then he mingles this oil with the water and mixes the water in the whole font. He proceeds to the baptism in the usual way, if there are candidates. Then on the return of the Priest and assistants to the altar, the Litany is sung by two cantors, and the choir answers, as below:

Here the Cantors begin solemnly to sing the Kyrie, while the Priest and Sacred Ministers, in white vestments, approach the Altar and begin Mass in the accustomed way. After kissing the Altar the Celebrant _censes the Altar, and after the Kyrie is finished the Gloria is sung solemnly.

The Collect.

GOD, who dost make this most

ness of our Lord's Resurrection, preserve in this new offspring of thy family that Spirit of adoption which

The Epistle is written in the third chapter of Colossians, beginning at the first verse.

F ye then be risen with Christ, seek

Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

After which the Celebrant begins alleluia, and it is sung three times, at each successive repetition in a higher tone, the choir repeating it in the same several tones. After which the choir continues :

V. Ps. 118. O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is gracious; because his mercy endureth forever.

Then is said the Tract, Ps. 117.

PRAISE the Lord, all ye heathen: praise him, all ye nations.

OPRAISE

V. For his merciful kindness is ever more and more toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise the Lord.
