The president of the senate, in accordance with S. J. R. No. 1, Mr. Patterson, appointing a joint committee to wait upon the governor, has appointed as such committee on the part of the senate, Messrs. Patterson, Rathburn, McKee and Gotshall.

Report of the commissioners for the revision and consolidation of the statute laws of Ohio as provided by an act passed April 2, 1906, volume 98, page 221, was received.

On motion of Mr. Ervin the report was submitted to the committee on rules.

Report of the select committee appointed to wait upon the governor.
Mr. Ervin submitted the following report:

The joint committee appointed to wait upon the governor and inform him that the general assembly is ready to receive any message he may see fit to communicate, has performed that duty and reports that the governor will communicate to the general assembly, in writing, forthwith.

To the House of Representatives:

You are hereby informed that on November 9, 1909, the Honorable Cornell Schreiber, member of the house of representatives from Lucas county, tendered me his resignation as such member and it was by me accepted on the 11th day of November, 1909.

On motion of Mr. Ervin the message was referred to the house as a committee of the whole.

By unanimous consent the following bill was introduced and read

the first time.

H. B. No. I—Mr. Ritter. To make sundry appropriations.

On motion of Mr. Ervin the constitutional rule requiring bills to be fully read on three different days was dispensed with, and said bill (H. B. No. 1) was by order of the house, read the second time by its title.

On motion of Mr. Dever the constitutional rule requiring bills to be read fully on three different days was dispensed with and said bill (H. B. No. 1) was, by order of house, engrossed at the clerk's desk. and read the third time.

The question being shall the bill pass, the yeas and nays were taken, and resulted—yeas 88, nays none, as follows:

WHEREAS, Colonel Fred Blankner, third assistant sergeant-at-arms of the house for 53 years, having had daily charge of the house during the intermission of the sessions of the 78th general assembly, and having faithfully performed his duty, therefore,

Resolved, That the thanks and appreciation of this house be tendered to him for his patient and faithful service and for the clean and sanitary condition in which he has kept the house for the convenience and comfort of the members.

So the resolution was adopted.

Mr. Geleerd offered the following resolution:

H. R. No. 2 Mr. Geleerd.

WHEREAS, This house of representatives of the seventy-eighth general assembly of the state of Ohio has heard with profound sorrow and regret of the death of the late Honorable John Paul Jones, of Toledo, Ohio, who was a member of the seventy-eighth general assembly of Ohio from Lucas county; and

WHEREAS, In his death the people of his county have lost an honored and sincere friend, and the state of Ohio an honest, upright, industrious and sincere servant; therefore,

Be it resolved by the house of representatives, That we honor and cherish the memory of the late Honorable John Paul Jones, and extend to his family and friends our deep and lasting sympathy, and express our appreciation of his high and spotless character and those noble qualities which made him a useful and honorable member of the house; and,

Resolved, That, as a further evidence of our respect to his memory, this resolution be adopted by the house and spread upon the journal thereof, and that a copy of the same be engrossed and transmitted to the family of the deceased, and in memory of this honored member I move that this house do now adjourn.

So the resolution was adopted.
