AN ACT

To incorporate the Diamond Coal Company, and for other purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enected by the Senate and House of Rep resentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Gen. eral Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That William A. Budd, Thomas A. Budd, Thomas Bell, Adam Shoemaker, Edward L. Taylor, George Warder, associates, successors and assigns, be and they are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, by the name, style, and title of the Diamond Coal company, and the said company shall possess and enjoy all the powers, privileges and immunities, and be subject to the terms, resirictions, and conditioned in an act entitled an act to incorporate the Sugar Loaf Coal company, passed the second day of April, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight. A FURTHER SUPPLEMENT

To the several acts relating to the Insurance Company of the State of

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, The insurance company of the State of Pennsylvania have made request that they may be permitted to reduce the amount of their capital. Therefore

SECTION 1. may be reduc- of said stock, to two hundred dollars each, by cancelling and extinguishing two hundred and fifty shares of the said capital stock now held by the said company, and by distributing among the holders of the remaining one thousand shares in proper proportion, according to the number of their shares of the assets of the company beyond the retained capital of two hundred thousand dollars, such distribution to be made at such times and in such manner as shall be deemed by the directors consistent with a proper attention to the judicious collection and conversion of the assets.

SECTION 2. That when such assent in writing as aforesaid Certificates, shall be given, the certificates of stock now in existence shall be called in by the directors of the said company, and new certificates shall be issued in place of them, conforming to the change in capital; and no re-payment of capital as aforesaid, shall be made upon any share until the certificate of such share shall be surrendered for renewal as aforesaid.

That such assent in writing may be signed by the stockholders, or their attornies, duly constituted, and may be recorded in the office for recording deeds in the city and county of Philadelphia, and in case of loss of the original, a certified copy from such record shall be admissible in evidence.

That when such assent in writing shall be executed as aforesaid, notice shall be given thereof in two, at least, of the daily newspapers of the city: Provided nevertheless, That the whole of the amount of the capital stock of said company existing at the date of said advertisement, shall be liable for contracts of insurance existing with said company at

To authorize the Canal Commissioners to inquire into the claims for damages sustained by the Western Transpartation Company, doing business under the firm of D. Leech and Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep resentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the canal commissioners are hereby requir ed to inquire into the following claims of the Western Trans- Canal comportation company, doing business under the firm of D. Supplementary to an act passed the eighth day of April, one thousand
eight hundred and thirty-three, entitled "An act to incorporate the
Pittsburg Saving Fund Company, and the Carlisle Saving Fund
Company."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep resentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the powers and privileges granted to the Pittsburg sa- Pittsburg Saving Fund company, by the act to which this is a supplement and the supplement thereto, be and the samé are hereby extended until the first day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight.

SECTION 2. From and after the passage of this act, the corporate name and style of the Pittsburg Saving Fund company shall, and the same is hereby changed and altered, to "The Farmer's Deposit Bank of l'ittsburg.

SECTION 3. The Farmer's Deposit Bank of Pittsburg shall be, and the said company are hereby authorized, to increase their stock and deposits to the amount of five hundred thousand dollars; and the clause of the sixth section of the act of the thirty-first of March, one thousand eight hundred and thirtyseven, limiting the capital stock and amount of deposits in said company, to two hundred thousand dollars, be and the same is hereby repealed: Provided howevei, That the said institution shall not be permitted to issue any certificate payable on demand or otherwise, in the nature of a bank note.

SECTION 4. The duties appertaining to and devolving upon the treasurer of the said company, are hereby transferred to and vested in a cashier, who shall give bond in the same amount. and with the same number of sureties heretofore required of the said treasurer; and he shall perform all the duties heretofore attached to the offices of treasurer and secretary to said company; and the offices of treasurer and secretary of said company are hereby abolished.

SECTION 5. The treasurer for the time being, at the date of the passage of this act, shall assume and perform the duties of cashier of said company, until the next regular election.

SECTION 6. The stockholders of said company, shall contion of direc- vene in May next, and annually thereafter, and elect by ballot one person for president, one person for cashier, and six directors, who shall continue in office for one year: Provided
