On motion of Mr. Creamer, said message was referred to the committee on Benevolent Institutions. Mr Entrekin offered the following joint resolution: S. J. R. No 53: WHEREAS, It appears that some doubt or ambiguity exists as to the meaning and intent of section 148 of the Revised Statutes; therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Ohio, That it is the intent and meaning of said section 148 that "the Secretary of State shall be entitled to receive" and retain as part of his official compensation the fees in said section 148 named and described. Mr. Hartshorn moved to refer said resolution to the committee on Judiciary. On motion of Mr. Hitchcock, the Senate took a recess. THREE O'CLOCK P.M.
