for answer from the governor, that he had no further communication to make. On motion of Mr. Hand, A committee was ordered to be appointed to wait on the Senate and inform that body that the House had no further business before it, and was now ready to adjourn sine die, and after a short absence, the committee returned and reported that they had discharged the duty assigned them. A committee from the Senate was announced, consisting of Senators Thurber and Fenton, who informed the House that the Senate was now ready to adjourn sine die. The Speaker then resumed the chair. Mr. Walker moved that the House adjourn sine die, when The Speaker rose, and addressed the House as follows: Gentlemen of the House of Representatives: We are about to separate, but before that separation takes place, allow me to return you my grateful acknowledgements for this kind expression of your friendly feelings, and for the uniform good will you have manifested towards me. During the session, it has been your duty to pass upon a general revision of the laws, as well as to provide for existing wants and present overwhelming necessities. This has been labor, long, arduous and protracted, and you have devoted yourselves to the work in a manner honorable to the representatives of an intelligent and enlightened people. You are now about to return to your constituents, your homes, your families and firesides. May that return be accompanied with many cordial and heartfelt greetings, and attended with a consciousness on your part that you have done your duty to yourselves as men-to the state as citizens, and to the cause of republican institutions as members of the great human family. The House then adjourned sine die. INDEX. PETITIONS, MEMORIALS, &c.
